Harry POV

The next day Louis was in my room with me, both of lounged out on the bed, Louis leaning against the wall on his phone and I was reading a book, lying flat on the bed.

"Payno says hi." Louis said, nudging me with his sock-clad foot.

"Tell him hi back." I replied without looking up, absorbed in my murder mystery.

"I'm bored Hareeeh." Louis said after another fifteen minutes.

"What do you want to do then?" I asked, marking my page and closing my book.

"Let's wrap our Christmas presents." he said so we went to the cupboard downstairs and got plenty of wrapping paper, tape, name tags and a pair of scissors and then went back to my room, putting everything down on the floor.

Louis grabbed his armfuls of presents from his room and joined me on the carpet, wrapping everything up.

"Now we put them under the tree." I said an hour or so later when we had scraps of wrapping paper on the floor and two piles of labeled and wrapped presents.

"Follow me then Curly." Louis said, scooping up his pile of presents and marching out of the room. My stomach leaped at his nickname but quickly followed after him, going downstairs and into the living room where the Christmas tree was. Louis lay down on his stomach and pushed the presents under the spiky leaves of the tree.

He got up again and brushed himself off, grinning happily, his job done.

"Here Louis, let me get a picture of you." I said and I pulled out my phone. He stuck his hands in his pockets and grinned until he heard the click of my phone, signaling that the photo had been taken.

"Very cute." I said shyly, showing him.

"Hey lads, what's going on?" Gemma asked, coming into the room and slipping a wrapped present under the tree.

"We're bored." Louis replied.

"Well I was going to make biscuits, want to help?" Gemma offered so we went into the kitchen and got out the ingredients. Louis mixed everything in the bowl while I poured in ingredients. Gemma prepared the baking tray and then helped us put the batter onto it, sticking it in the oven for fifteen minutes.

"Let's watch some tv." I said so we made sure the timer was set and went into the next room and turned on the tv.

When the timer went off Louis made to get up but Gemma stopped him.

"You chill out Louis, Harry, come and help me." Gemma said. I rolled my eyes but followed my sister into the kitchen.

"Right, I put mistletoe up the top of the stairs, I promise it'll work." Gemma said.

"Gemma, you're crazy. Louis doesn't want to kiss me, he has a girlfriend." I said.

"Are you serious? He has been flirting with you for the past two days, you're just too stupid to notice. And I saw you guys cuddled up on your bed, that was cute. I promise you he likes you, it's just the way he looks at you." Gemma replied.

"Whatever Gems." I said and I pulled the biscuits out of the oven before they burnt.

"So Louis, what would you like to do on your birthday?" Mum asked Louis during dinner.

"Oh, um, well Harry mentioned a fair that comes on Christmas Eve. That could be cool." Louis replied.

"What do you want to do in the day then?" I asked, knowing the fair started at four p.m.

"I don't know, I don't really know the area. Is there anything fun that you guys know of?" Louis asked.

"Well there's not as much to do during winter except the hills by the river. They're fun to toboggan down if it snows." Gemma said.

"Oo, can we do that?" Louis asked.

"Of course." Anne replied.

"And how about lunch down at the pub?" Robin suggested.

"Sounds like a great day." Louis replied.

I grinned at him, happy that he was enjoying his holiday with my family.

Louis' birthday was in eleven days.

After dinner Louis, Gemma and I did the dishes and joined Mum and Robin to watch a Christmas movie, The Grinch tonight.

When it was finished at half past nine Louis and I went upstairs.

"Is that mistletoe?" Louis asked, pointing at the ceiling when we got to the top of the stairs.

"Yeah I think so." I replied, cursing Gemma for putting me in this horrendously awkward situation.

"We don't have to kiss though, it's just a stupid-" I tried to say.

"Stupid? Harold, this is a Christmas law. We have to kiss." Louis said, unexpectedly passionate about this stupid Christmas law.

"But it's-"

"Why don't you want to kiss me Styles? I just had a mint." Louis broke me off, teasing me like always.

"It's just Gemma who thought it would be funny to put that there." I said.

"It's still fucking mistletoe and we're still fucking under it." Louis argued, pointing up at the clump of mistletoe above us.

Why did Louis feel so strongly about this?

"You don't have to-"

Louis grabbed my face and pressed his slightly chapped, thin red lips against mine. Wow, why was I against this happening? Louis held the kiss for about two seconds, gently moving his lips against mine, a totally innocent kiss, no lust, no tongue, just two friends kissing under the mistletoe. Fuck, I didn't want to just be two friends kissing under the mistletoe.

"That shut you up." Louis said, pulling away and taking his hands off my face.

"I- uh- eh- um." I said in reply, wondering why my mouth, voice box and brain couldn't say anything.

"Night Curly." Louis said with a grin and he winked cheekily and went into his room, shutting the door behind him.

I grinned as well, I grinned the whole time I was brushing my teeth, causing me to get toothpaste on my hoodie, I grinned when I had a quick shower, I grinned when I left the bathroom.

"What are you so smiley about?" Gemma asked when she met me in the hallway, holding a glass of water.

"Louis kissed me." I said.

"Under the mistletoe?" Gemma asked.

I nodded.

"Damn it Harold I told you it would work. I'm your big sister, you can't not believe in my plans. Anyway goodnight." she said, hugging me.

"Night Gems." I replied and I went back into my room, still smiling.

I grinned when I closed my curtains, I grinned when I plugged my phone in to charge and pulled off my clothes, leaving only my boxers on and I grinned when I got into bed and tried to get to sleep.
