June 2021

"C'mon, one last party before we start our senior year of college?" Your best friend begged you from where she stood in the doorway of your shared apartment. Gazing up at her, you stifled a laugh.

"My idea of a party is inside someone's home amongst friends. Your idea of partying features a club, dancing, and getting drunk off your ass." You quipped, not able to hide the smirk that found its way across your face. The brunette stood there, arms crossing over her chest, trying her absolute hardest to display a look of anger. But you knew her far too well.

"Please?!" She turned to beg, walking over to you as she draped her hands across your shoulders. "Once we graduate, it's all serious business and no fun." Her bottom lip jutted out at the realization, only causing you to laugh at her.

Inhaling deeply, you rolled your eyes. She knew she had you convinced.

"Fine," You breathed out. "Tomorrow night?"

Your friend's eyes turned dark and it alarmed you.

"Tonight," She corrected you with a yell, racing to her bedroom to decide on the outfit she wanted to wear. Groaning, you glanced at the time. Time to see if you had something decent.

-

The lights within the nightclub danced across the room, drunken individuals scattered almost everywhere. "Really?" You asked your friend as she hooked her arm through yours. "You chose one of the busiest clubs in LA?"

Morgan turned to gaze at you, rolling her eyes. "You know you live for this just as much as I do."

Chuckling, you allowed her to whisk you through the doors, the floor completely filled with people. Morgan was headed straight for the bar and you followed her closely behind. Morgan was all for getting tipsy and finding a cute guy to dance with. You, on the other hand, found comfort in the establishment of a connection.

By the time Morgan was three mixed drinks in, she had done herself a favor and stumbled upon a tall, dark, and handsome fellow who absolutely loved having his hands on her. Shaking your head, you remained pushed back into the corner of the room, your eyes surveying your surrounding area. One of you needed to be somewhat sober if you were going to make it back to your apartment in the early hours of the morning.

"You look awfully lonely in the corner," A voice made itself known. You turned your head to the sight, your eyes meeting the center of someone's chest. Your eyes then gazed up to see an extremely handsome guy with slightly dark hair and the bluest eyes you had ever seen. Even with the booming of the music inside the club, you caught the essence of an accent from his tongue, making you smile gently.

"There's no trouble in the corner." You yelled over the crowd, watching as his face contorted with laughter. He looked down at your empty hand, smiling sweetly.

"Mind if I buy you a drink?" He asked.

Glancing back over at Morgan whose hands were cast into the air, not a single care in the world on her mind, you took it as your turn to let loose. Only slightly.

"Cosmopolitan," You responded, feeling as the two of you shifted and made your way over to the bar. Quickly the drink was ordered and you smiled, watching as the pink liquid became the most inviting thing other than the hot stranger standing before you. Taking another look at him, your eyebrows knitted together in confusion.

"Why do I feel like I know you from somewhere?" You asked him. He shrugged his shoulders, his own spiked drink meeting his reddened lips. He was extraordinarily beautiful.
