Nine: S

S. A race platform for skateboarders. Created by Adam himself, with the help of Kojiro and Kaoru. Ainosuke was going insane though. At first, it was just for fun, but it turned into something like last night. A skate to death. If you didn't win, there was always the chance of death, so you had to be careful. But you also had to win if you wanted any credibility. It was a game of madness, but everyone seemed to enjoy the thrill. At least, on the outside.

"Come with me."

Kojiro grabbed my hand and pulled me over to a group. "What are you doing?"

"Everyone, this is Rin. Rin, this is everyone."

I waved slightly. "Uh... hello everyone."

"Nanjo brought a girl?"

"What's up with that?"

"Where did she come from? I've never seen her before."

I sighed. "Why am I here?" I asked again, hoping for an answer.

"Kaoru is going to be racing for Adam tonight."

"Racing Adam?! Is he insane?!"

"Not racing Adam, racing for Adam."

I shook my head. "Meaning he's going to be showing off. You know, S seems really dangerous."

"More so than you racing against Adam while still being new to all this?"

"Hey, who saved who? You were being a big meat head. I know you can be smart. The only issue I have with you is that you can't say no to a pretty girl."

"Says the pretty girl."

Adam came over. "Nanjo is going to be in so much trouble..." someone whispered.

"Oh, Miss Hikari, you're here. Are you planning on racing tonight?"

"I'm not planning on it."

Nanjo wrapped his arm around me. "She's with me. So if anyone's getting in trouble, it's me."

"Trouble? You brought me one of the best skaters I've ever seen. She deserves to be here."

I took a step back. "Stay away from me, Adam."

"Why? I thought we were friends."

"Actually, I'd like to ask you to stay away from her too. You did sort of hurt her the other day."

I turned to Kojiro. "I completely deserved it though. I was out of line."

"No, your Papa was right. You should never be hit for any reason. I'm not going to let that happen again. I am suppose to be protecting you, but you seem to always get hurt around me."

"I..."

"I don't care anymore. I'll be skating somewhere if you need me. See you later, Joe."

"Bye Adam."

I turned. "Joe?"

"Since more people have been showing up, we're thinking of having fake names. This is sort of illegal."

I smiled at him. "Then we just can't get caught then."

We started walking around more. "Adam is starting to turn S into a big thing. Kaoru hasn't noticed it yet, but I have. That's why I was going to race him. Whoever won got control of S, but you stopped it."

"No, Sakurayashiki and I both stopped you from getting killed. There's a difference. This isn't all on you, Kojiro."

"It seems like it will be."
