Kalo Morgase

King of the Morgase Empire

"How could you send people ahead! Don't you know that you could be giving away our element of surprise!" Queen Kiara was pissed at me, why did I feel like everything I did pissed this woman off, I mean really, I thought I would leave a better impression on the mother of the woman I love.

"Queen Kiara, let's be honest here, we needed the location confirmed and the fact that they sent Ursula Aurelie after you to delay you, means they already know we are coming! Talon's video cast cut off the moment they moved closer to the location, so while they've assured me you can't see anything there, that the scans will pick up nothing, once you get closer, something changes." She harumphed and turned away from the video cast, I thought that being a King, whoever I chose to be my Queen would be impressed by my position, that her parents would be as well, but I just had to go and fall in love with a woman that was a ruler herself, a woman with two rulers for parents, of separate Empires to boot.

The mere fact that I tolerated Queen Kiara's insults as much as I did, just went to show how much I loved Alessandra, Malia was right, there would be no one else for me, I had never understood exactly how Malia had known her husband was the one, but I knew now that Alessandra would be the only one for me.

No one would ever match up to her in my mind, it wasn't just because she was beautiful, or that she was a Queen, I didn't love the Drakkonian throne, but the person who sat in it now, she was the one I cared for, I had a throne already, I had no need for another. I fell in love with Alessandra because of her courage, her honesty, her sense of violent justice, I had never liked how the Drakkonian's tried to restrain their instincts in propriety, I felt that it was like they were all lying to themselves about who they were, but Alessandra never did that, she was and would always be herself, no matter the consequences. She was smart enough to do it without usually offending people, usually because she had offended more than one ruler already, though both of them were now dead, so we all knew who exactly got the last word in, and it wasn't them.

I loved her because she was a magnificent creature, raised with sickness for most of her life on Earth, she only recently found out about these new worlds, about her heritage, her birthright of two empires, and yet she had never cowered away from the throne, never thought it would be easier to just let someone else handle it all, she had risen to the occasion, showing everyone that she was meant to rule, it wasn't just because of the blood she got from her parents denoting her as a royal, it was who she was, how she acted, she was a Queen.

I wanted her to be my Queen, to share with me all her troubles and woes, to either let me help her with them, or watch her as she so cleverly fixed them, I didn't want Alessandra because it would mean an easy life, I knew it wouldn't, she was too much of a trouble maker for that, but after all these years of peace and ruling, of being all alone, I was ready for a little fun, I was ready to rule by her side if she allowed me to.

I knew I was a good King, but I wasn't a great king, I didn't have the essence, the little bit of extra that made a good ruler great, Alessandra did, she was a great ruler, and god forbid anyone who got in her way or tried to harm her people. In the short time she had been Queen, she had changed each and every one of us, she had been a true leader, she had inspired us, people who had been stuck in their ways for thousands of years, how she had changed us in only a few short months.

She could rule everything if she wanted to, I knew that nothing would stand in her way, but she was a great ruler precisely because she knew she didn't have to conquer more land to please her people, she knew that peace was always better than war, not that war could always be helped, she had proved with Cedric though, that if someone wanted to challenge her she wouldn't back down, she would fight and she would win. I loved her because in all my years of life, I had never met anyone like her, and I knew that I would never meet anyone like her again, she was one of a kind, a leader that rose through hard circumstances, rather than one that lived in luxury and cared only for themselves. "It is too late to lecture him, my love. He has sent them already, we have no choice but to push forward." He gives me a nod and I give him one in return, acknowledging that he thought I had done the right thing.
