I stared at Trollex. He just looked at the sand. But I kind of understands how he feels. We literally just lost our home and music. And we couldn't do anything to prevent it.
Beat swam down to our level on the ground. "What do we do?" He asked.
Trollex sighed. "I...don't know." He just kept looking at the ground. I looked around. I saw many trolls, but none were awake. I put my hand around his shoulder and squeezed him lightly. He looked up at me and smiled. He put his head on my shoulder. I felt a cold, light tap on my shoulder.
A tear. I looked down at Trollex. He was lightly crying. This is the first time in five years I have seen him cry. I hugged him tighter. Beat just looked at us, and started to cry as well. Trollex stopped crying after a minute and look up at me. "How are you always so positive?"
I looked down at him. "It's easier to be positive when your friend needs it." Trollex smiled and closed his eyes.
"You're a great friend." He said. He wiped a tear off his cheek and got up and sighed. "We have to get our string back."
I popped up. "What!? You can't just say it like it's that easy, we can't just go!" I shouted.
"But what else are we supposed to do?" He asked, looking at me.
I didn't say anything. I didn't get a chance to say anything.
Trollex shut his eyes and held his heart in pain. "Trollex!" I yelled. He started to loose balance. I swam over to him quickly and held him. Beat swam behind me in panic.
"Wha-wha's happening?" He asked in a faint voice as he slowly opened his eyes. I looked down at his heart. It wasn't the vibrant pink it always was. It was now a faint blue color with tints of grey.
"Ma-maybe it's because of the attack?" Beat said nervously.
"Or maybe it was because of the string." I gasped. I bent down and set Trollex down. "I'll be back in a splash." I said before swimming off.
It only took me a minute to grab my book and come back. Beat was snuggling in Trollex's arm, who was closing his eyes, hoping that would make the pain leave. When I arrived, Beat swam out of Trollex's arms.
I swam over and sat down beside him. I opened the book and started flipping through pages rapidly. "I found it!" I announced.
I read from the article. "Troll leader normally have a special connection to their string. Who ever is has the blood from the leader, will connect to the string."
Trollex let out a sigh in pain. "So...my mom was the heir to the throne...I have a connection to the string. But my dad wouldn't?..."
"I think so..." I said, looking at him, then back at the book. He nodded. I kept reading. "If the string gets a certain distance away from its owner, then the owner will start to become weaker." I paused there. "So basically, the string holds your strength..."
I looked back down at Trollex. He seemed like he was in so much pain. "Roxie..." He started to say. "I have to get our sting back..."
I knew knew he was right. "But you aren't doing well." I argued.
"But once I get closer to the string, I'll get my energy back." He said.
I sighed. "Are you sure about this?"He just nodded. "Okay then." I smiled at him. "But I'm coming with you."
"No, Roxie, it could be dangerous, you just saw what they did to Techno Reef." He said, looking at the Reef.
"Which is why I'm coming." I said. He closed his eyes and nodded.
