Chapter 1: Batuu

You inhaled deeply, taking in the warmth of the three Batuu suns as they shined upon your skin. Having been stationed there for two years, you had grown accustomed to the frequent heat. In fact, you enjoyed it more than your home planet of Chandrilan.

Of course, you hadn't been back there in years. Not since the night you escaped leaving the dreaded Resistance that you had grown up in. How could you possibly back and face your parents?

A voice calling your name in the distance pulled you out of your thoughts, "Officer, they are-" The new recruit didn't have to finish their sentence, before you knew what they were trying to pass along to you. The five First Order shuttles soared above the two of you, signaling that he was arriving.

Quickly you scarfed down the rest of your ronto wrap as you ran off towards the shuttles. Not hesitating at all, you ran straight up the deck of Commander Ren's shuttle. You didn't stop until your arms were embracing your best friend.

"I've missed you so much." she managed to escape as you buried her in your hair.

"It's about damn time that he brought you here back to me." you said stepping back letting go of her embrace.

"I'll make sure to tell the war to stop, so you can see each other." Kylo muttered.

"Maybe if you were a better fighter the war would be over." you spat back.

The unmasked force user and you, stared each other down for a minute. However, you broke first, a small smile crept upon your face. The Commander let back a rare small smile.

"I hope that your journey was easy and gave you no issues." you said as the three of you departed the ship. "I know that you guys don't have a lot of time; however, I think you will find that everyone is prepared for your arrival. Reports are ready to be presented along with a scheduled itinerary to keep us on track. However, at the end of the night you are mine."

Leading the way, you headed towards the main station where the council rooms were locating. Getting there was easy enough, as the crowd moved swiftly away when they saw the now masked Commander.

The day was spent going through the long lists of reports on what was going on at the base along with integrating the Resistance members that were being held hostage.

"No you can't do that!" you shouted from across your table.

"Why the hell not?" the dark voice of Commander Ren echoed across the walls of your corridor. His voice filled the space as he frantically started moving pieces around the board in a defensive manner.

"Because, if you move-"

"She's right. You can't move the queen to that spot. It's an invalid move." Delilah's voice chimed in, cutting you off.

Kylo Ren abruptly stood from the table and flung the chess board across the room. Pieces flew all throughout the open space with some barley missing your voice. After this tantrum he stormed off towards the refresher.

"Sorry." you sarcastically shouted at him while rolling your eyes. He flung his arms out in response, keeping his back turned away from you. "You married an ass." you said turning back towards your best friend who was busy picking up her husband's mess.

"Please, I blame you for that one." she laughed.

You couldn't fight her on that one. It was technically your fault that they had met. Commander Ren (previously known as Ben Solo) and you had been close friends since before the two of you could read. Both his and your parents had fought at the battle of Endor together. While your parents chatted at Rebel meetings, the two of you would play games around the base. Together the two of you didn't seem so alone... well that was until Han and Leia sent him to train with Luke.
