Chapter Sixteen
I wake up in my bed at Camp Animus. My scythe is propped up against the wall across from me. I look around and see Michael, Jessie, and Ashton sitting in some chairs near the back wall. Jessie is looking down at her crossed legs tapping her fingers to whatever type of music she’s listening to. Ashton is sitting next to Jessie with a notebook and drawing some sort of picture in it. Michael is on the other side of Jessie and he’s fiddling with an arrow. I’m guessing that’s his weapon of choice.
Jessie looks up from her fingers and sees that I’m awake. Her eyes light up and she literally jumps up out of her chair. Jessie darts towards my bed, “Oh my god, Dawn! You’re alive!” She laughs a little. “You’ve been asleep for two days. We didn’t know when you’d wake up.”
Ashton comes up behind her, “We were really worried about you.”
“Well, I’m glad you guys are here. Thanks for checking up on me.”, I say with joy. I’m actually really glad that they’re here. I’m glad that I’ve actually made some quality friends so far in this place.
I get out of bed and stand up. I feel a sharp pain in my back. I think I’m still sore from training. That was some real simulated pain.
I collapse onto my knees because my legs went weak when I was in training. Ashton darts over to me and helps me up, "Dawn! Are you alright?"
I lean up against him, my knees still weak, "Yeah I'm good. So, what did I miss the two days I was out?"
Michael looks at Ashton with a mischievous grin on his face, "Well, you missed Ashton have a freak out when he was trying to work with his fire jiz."
"Don't bring that up." Ashton says, slightly annoyed with the other boy's comment.
"Show her."
"Ugh, I hate you." The black haired boy says. He lightly punches the other boy. Ashton rolls up his left sleeve and I see something that slightly grossed me out but, also made me pity the guy.
His arm was covered in burn marks. "Dude, what happened?!" I ask.
"Umm... I tried to show off with my fire stuff and as you can see, it didn't turn out so well."
I cringe and ask him to roll it down. I don't do too well with bodily injuries. The markings on the skin just make me have a weird feeling in my stomach and I do not like it.
"The only thing bad that happened in my training was that I accidentally drenched myself with water." Jessie chuckles.
"I had to dry her off." Michael says. He summons a little bit of air and shoots Jessie in the face with it.
Jessie sends him a glare and lightly nudges him on the shoulder.
“It seems like you guys are more friendly than you were two days ago.” I say, jokingly.
“What? Michael is cool… and,” Jessie drags out the ‘and’, “Ashton constantly wanted to check up on you.”
“Thats really sweet, man.” I hug him. Well, it was more of a side embrace. I was already leaning up against the boy and just turned a little and wrapped my arms around him. Could you call that a hug? Yeah, I guess so.
“Thanks.” I could feel him get a little warm.
I could hear Michael snicker, “Your face, bro.”
Ashton hit his hand on his head, “Lets just go back to training. I’m tired of you guys bothering me.”
Ashton wraps one arm around my waist and ushers me out of the door, Jessie and Michael following.
Well, today is going to be very interesting.
