I finish my breakfast and go upstairs to pack up my clothes for three weeks. I pack mostly T-shirts and shorts. I don't pack clothes for every day; I just pick out clothes that will do me good for about two weeks. I can wash them, I think but, in reality, if I count my pajamas as clothes, I do pack for three weeks.

I grab some of the books that I haven't read off of my bookshelf and my Mp3 player. I always have to have a book or my tunes by my side; it's even better if I have both.

I am almost packed and then I hear a knock on my door, "Hey, mom."

"Dawn, the bus will arrive at any minute. Are you ready?" my mother sounds even more nervous than she usually is about me leaving.

"Almost", I said calmly.

"Well, hurry up", she said as she walks down the hallway to go wake up my sister.

I walk out of my room and go to the bathroom to fix my bangs. I look into the bathroom mirror and look at my hair. My bangs are like a lion's mane... but smaller... I grab the flat iron and straighten them out. I shrug my shoulders, "It's decent." I unplug the iron and shove it in my bag. I'm going to need that, I think.

I go back into my room and put on my shoes; black and white Converse, to be exact. My friends drew all over them but, I don't care; I love them anyway.

I grab my black suitcase that my grandma had my name embroidered into. I like the contrast of it. My name is in blue and it goes well on the black. I sigh then I open my door and walk into the living room. I sit down on the sofa.

We have a coffee table in the living room and I see a pen on there. I click it and start to draw on my wrist. I draw a bird taking off in flight. I don't know why, I just draw random things that come to mind. I then add some clouds around it. I feel a tap on my shoulder and jump back, "You scared me!"

My mom looks sort of sad, "The bus is here. It's time for you to go. Your father would be so proud of you."

My dad apparently left when I was small. My mom and dad were on vacation when he ditched her. They were never married. That's all I know. My mother won't go into any further details about the subject.

My sister, Kaylee is right behind her. She's seven. Kaylee jumps over the sofa and gives me a big hug, "Bye, Dawn". Her curly blonde hair is still messy from when she woke up.

I give her a tight squeeze, "I'm going to miss you so much!"

Kaylee giggles.

I get off of the sofa and walk towards the front door. My mother puts her hand on my shoulder, "Stay safe, Dawn; don't get hurt."

I nod my head and give my mom a hug around the neck and say, "Bye, mom. I love you."

My mom opens the door and what I see is not a regular bus.
