The doctor looked at Mikey, removing his mask, his eyes held a solemn expression, either from sadness or from exhaustion. He cleared his throat making Mikey desperate in anticipation with a tinge of fear mixed with it.
Life truly is so ironic, those who give all the happiness they possess to others in hope of at least doing something good are just swept away by people after they are used. Things like these may seem trivial to some people but they leave a deep scar to those with pure souls.
Being a good person is a skill, anything you might have done well today or any day for that matter was your decision. No one is just good, just like no one is truly bad, life is a sad painting of grey rather than black and white, good people just make the decision to be good. So if you were good to someone, I'm sure it was deeply appreciated either by them even if not I sure do appreciate it.
Some people tear their hearts into pieces, distributing all those people to those they care about. If those people take care of those pieces, it provides warmth and if not there's just a sadness that perhaps they were not enough to even have their heart pieces be appreciated.
Death seems so calm sometimes, so tempting, perhaps that's why people hurt by this world turn towards it as their comfort. In those moments though, when they reach their deaths, do they even for a moment ever wonder if they don't want this coldness though? Perhaps what they wanted was just some warmth in this dull life.
------------------
Frost was floating in the abyss, perhaps that of heaven or just her consciousness. She looked around trying to find a way out of this dark place for she feared if she stayed here any longer, she'll find solace in her own company and darkness.
She saw some butterflies glowing purple, leading her towards a pathway. As she started walking towards it, she could make out it was covered in snow. Was it the way out? Just as she was about to walk on that path, she felt warmth from the opposite direction.
Her instinct made her walk towards the warmth instead. She saw a door in front of her, feeling a familiar presence of a person she cared for immensely on the other side. She ran towards it, unknowingly leaving the path of heaven behind and instead of walking back to the land of living through the door.
There sat Mikey, his body trembling, was it from sadness or worry? She walked toward him and called his name only for him to continue looking down as if he was ignoring her.
She desperately called him out and apologised thinking he was mad at her for worrying him. At that moment she noticed something.
She was staring at her own self lying on a hospital bed beside the chair Mikey sat upon. Not understanding what was happening she reached for Mikey only for her hand to go through his body that was trembling from the anguish of her death she finally realised.
Realisation dawned upon her, she had left him, only her memories left behind.
-------------
After hearing from the doctor they couldn't save her, Mikey felt his heart drop. All the emotions left his face as he rushed into her room and sat beside her bed. Seeing her body so dull made him finally break down. People kept leaving him, he had distanced himself thinking he could save the only person left who he loved more than himself and perhaps than anything in the world.
They were soulmates, but not always soulmates stay together forever. The sky wept with him, mourning the loss of a pure soul and a beautiful yet tragic love as Mikey felt a cold presence enveloping him in a hug, making him cry harder since it felt like her.
He blamed himself, even when she didn't want him to. Both were in the same room, just one visible and the other as a soul not wanting to leave him in this state.
She really did find solace in the cold of death and grabbed the hand of the reaper, walking to death with open arms as long as her heart which lay with Mikey lived behind for her.
Now she stood, watching him cry beside her unconscious body, all she could do was embrace him and smile sadly. She smiled because she didn't regret dying for him, sad because he was hurting and she couldn't do anything about it.
She stayed like that embracing him for a long time.
I like to imagine people who have left this world truly do watch over those who cared about them. It doesn't matter if it's the truth because it's the only thing making the process of losing someone even the least bit bearable.
No one can truly tell what is more painful, dying and leaving a loved one behind or living and watching a loved one die.
The eyes weep even without tears, sometimes brewing with just pain, holding so many secrets yet so much strength within.
She really did love him, so much that she was glad she was the one who left instead of him.
Perhaps in another life, she'll stay with him, till then, she will give him all the luck she couldn't use in her life and make sure he is safe and sound again.
