Jared's head was pounding when the flight landed and he and Rudy were escorted off the plane. They were led straight to the emergency clinic inside the airport so that Jared could get a checkup to make sure his nosebleed wasn't anything more than just a spontaneous event. Jared's mouth and shirt had been drenched in a crimson red and even Rudy had a few spots of dried blood on his t-shirt but it wasn't like they hadn't been drenched in blood at least once before.
"Are you sure it was Noah?" Rudy asked as soon as the nurse left the two alone to find some paperwork and make copies of their passports.
"Oh yeah, I could feel his hatred. The only person that hates me that much right now is Duncan and I know for a fact Duncan doesn't have the ability to try to make me bleed out through my nose so it had to have been his little buddy." Jared shrugged. "We gotta go before she comes back and tries to check my vitals. I don't want to explain to her why I don't have a pulse."
Rudy nodded and grabbed Jared's hand to lead him out of the clinic and out towards the airport exit. Jared was hardly paying attention to where he was being led for he was too distracted trying to loosen his backpack straps with one hand so when Rudy stopped in his tracks he didn't realize until he'd crashed against the ginger's back.
"He's here." Rudy whispered without acknowledging Jared's clumsiness.
"Duncan?" Jared asked spontaneously, looking up to try and spot whatever Rudy was staring at.
"No dipshit, Noah." Rudy pointed to the black haired boy that was approaching them. He wore all black, a black shirt tucked into black jeans. His hair was the same color as his outfit so it made his pale skin look even whiter. Rudy didn't bother to meet the boy halfway so he waited until Noah was upon them before he spoke.
"Where's Duncan?"
Noah sighed rubbed his eye with the back of his hand. He dug into his pocket and pulled out a miniature notebook, handing it to Rudy in one motion. Rudy flipped it open, ignoring the confused gestures Jared was sending him. Noah's handwriting was unsettling yet familiar: ʜᴇ ɪꜱ ᴇxᴘᴇᴄᴛɪɴɢ ᴊᴀʀᴇᴅ. ʀᴜᴅʏ, ʏᴏᴜ ᴀʀᴇ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴛᴏ ʜɪᴍ ꜱᴏ ɪ ʀᴇᴄᴏᴍᴍᴇɴᴅ ᴋᴇᴇᴘɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴅɪꜱᴛᴀɴᴄᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ᴡᴇ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ɪᴛ ɪꜱ ꜱᴀꜰᴇ. ʜᴇ ɪꜱ ʟᴏᴄᴀᴛᴇᴅ ᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴜᴄʜᴀɴᴀɴ ᴘꜱʏᴄʜɪᴀᴛʀɪᴄ ʜᴏꜱᴘɪᴛᴀʟ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ɪꜱ ᴀɴ ʜᴏᴜʀ ᴀᴡᴀʏ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ʜᴇʀᴇ.
Rudy heart dropped when he read the words and turned to Jared who was leaning against him to read over his shoulder. "Why is he expecting you?"
Jared looked just as shocked by the writing as Rudy was. He looked up at Noah with one eyebrow raised. "Can we get a little more of an explanation?"
Noah only glared and snatched the notebook from Rudy's hands and pocketed it once again. "He is fragile, be careful around him. If I hear you tried to do anything or him I will kill you slowly and painfully. Especially you." He nodded towards Jared.
Rudy's eyes widened at the boy's scratchy and surprisingly deep voice. "I though you were mute?"
"I am." Noah stated and turned to head towards the airport exits.
Rudy and Jared looked at each other, mentally asking the other: "What just happened?"
"Duncan is in a psych ward, they must thing he's crazy after what happened." Jared looked at Rudy and tried to keep the attention away from their interlocked hands so that Rudy wouldn't pull away. "I mean, if you told someone i was four hundred years old and living off of blood, they'd sedate you too."
"I don't think Duncan would be stupid enough to tell people about you and Sammy, or what really happened at Beechwood. There must be more to it." Rudy's eyes traveled to their hands but he didn't pull away like Jared had expected. "Do you think he tried to kill himself?"
"If he's smart enough to not tell anyone about us, he's not dumb enough to kill himself." Jared watched the boy in front of him. "Come on, let's go find out."
Rudy smiled and nodded, letting Jared drag him by his hand out the door.
