It was hard to move the bricks.

He was weak, he could hardly move, and he couldn't find Daisy. Every time he even thought he heard something move he'd be in that spot in an instant , shoving as many bricks away as he could until he saw the grass underneath. He did this until he found someone, that someone was the woman he wanted dead more than he wanted to find his friends. He didn't hesitated, he grabbed the nearest brick and slammed it into her head until there was even more blood on him and the work around him than before. He felt sticky and gross and the smell was nearly torture to his senses but he didn't care, he wanted her to be dead and stay dead and now he had the opportunity to make that probable. It wasn't like there was anyone else he could scare away.

He paused when there was a rustle to his left. When the bricks began to shift Sammy straightened and watched hesitantly. He knew it wasn't Daisy, there's no way she survived and he knew that. He didn't have hope to find her alive but either way he needed to see her body.

This had to be Jared, someone else he wanted dead. Sammy watched as Jared clawed his way out of the bricks like watching a dead man rise from his grave in a zombie film. He stood up and coughed, brushing the debris from his raven hair and blinking away the dust that was caught in his eye. At first glance he looked like a normal boy.

When Jared looked up his eyes became soft, his voice came out scratchy. "Sam."

"They're all dead." Sammy said in response as Jared stepped closer to where Sammy stood. Sammy didn't back away, he didn't try to cower, he just stood his ground and let his former best friend pity him for a moment.

"We aren't," Jared said in a low voice.

"Bloody hell, really? You're so smart mate, really." Sammy returned to Miss Drake and kicked a few bricks over the woman's bloody body. Her face wasn't even recognizable now.

Jared rolled his eyes. "If we can find them we can save them. You know that, right?" Jared grabbed Sammy's wrist to spin him around. The two locked eyes and Sammy suddenly ached for the Jared he used to know. He shook the feeling off and cleared his throat.

"Not if they're already dead."

"I can. I've done it before." Jared scanned the rubbish and a smile started to creep into his face. "Nobody's looking for us or them, there isn't a single cop in sight. If we find them first, I can save them. I can save them all."

"If you save Miss Drake I'll kill you and you'll stay dead." Sammy began searching again and this time Jared helped him.

Sammy knew what Jared was capable of, he'd always known, but it scared him. Jared was capable of reviving the dead, so what could he do to the living? Sammy had seen that first hand, but a part of him still longed to have his best friend back. He missed the sneaking out the dorms to hunt, he missed bringing each other blood slushees, he missed the vampire jokes. He wanted a normal life but he'd never have it again.

"Isn't there more to it than that?" Sammy asked the boy in front of him.

"Do you want her alive or not?" Jared watched for Sammy's response. He wouldn't revive her without Sammy's permission but Rudy was his, he'd find the ginger whether Sammy agreed or not. Jared left Sammy's side and started scanning the debris, trying to sniff out the boy.

"Fine, but if you do anything else to her, ever, I'll kill you where you stand." Sammy began searching again and Jared could only nod in acceptance at Sammy's request.
