Daisy lay with her head on Sammy's stomach, being lifted up and down with Sammy's breaths. Although she knew he wasn't asleep, she couldn't help but notice how steady and calm his breaths were. Listening to his breathing was enough to put her to sleep but then again the constant pit of anxiety in her gut kept her eyes open. Sammy seemed to notice her fight to stay awake."You can sleep now, I won't let anything happen to you. Promise." His voice was soft and her heart fluttered at his words.
"You can't say that, you're weak, you couldn't protect me by yourself and that's okay right now. Don't think I haven't noticed the fact that you've stopped eating." Daisy positioned herself so that she could see his face. His brows were furrowed as he thought of his response.
"What? Am I supposed to eat alley rats that wankers injected drugs into? No thank you sweetheart." Sammy smiled at his own minor joke but Daisy didn't really find it all that funny.
"I'm worried about you." She whispered. "I'm worried about all of us."
Sammy looked down at her and met her white eyes. "We'll all be alright. We're going to get Duncan and school's going to start back and we can live our lives as normal as we possibly can. Until then, until we can get back on track, I swear to you that nothing bad is going to happen."
Daisy's heart dropped but she nodded and it wasn't long before she was asleep. As soon as Daisy's breathing slowed and her heartbeat slowed down to a normal speed Sammy pulled himself out from underneath her, tugging off his jacket and bundling it up underneath her head to act as a pillow. He tiptoed down the alley, making sure Daisy was still in his line of sight just in case and located Jared's dumpster. Jared seemed to always be hungry so he kept a stash of blood bags he'd stolen from a local hospital a few weeks back in the dumpster at the end of the alley. Sammy was the one that made him hide the blood since he wasn't entirely comfortable with Daisy and Rudy knowing about it. Sammy had only eaten three time since the disaster at Beechwood, he didn't like the taste of blood and the idea of it was just disgusting in itself so he refused to have any until he knew he absolutely needed it. His and Daisy's conversation started to make him think and he knew that Daisy was right, he couldn't protect her unless he ate and she was more important than his morals.
Sammy lifted the lid to the dumpster and peaked inside, the blood bags were covered with a blanket Jared had snatched from a sleeping homeless man but it was still there. a lot of it was missing but Sammy just assumed Jared took some with him for their trip. Sammy hated himself before he even picked up a bag.

Daisy bolted upright and her breathing quickened as she looked around, searching for someone. Noah wasn't here, of course he wasn't she knew that. Sammy was gone too, the only evidence that he'd even been there in the first place was the jacket that had been bundled underneath her head. She stood up and didn't bother to seat the tears from her eyes as she made her way down the alley, praying Sammy only left to use the restroom. She knew he wouldn't leave her for long, right? She stopped in her tracks when she made out a shape in the darkness, it was tall enough to be Sammy but she couldn't be sure.
"...Sam?" She practically cursed herself as soon as she spoke allowed. Her voice croaked but the figure froze and so did she.
"It's me." Sammy's voice came moments later and she let out a sigh of relief and sniffled.
"You left me." She whispered, stepping closer to the shape.
"I'm sorry."
"I had a dream. Noah was in it, he was watching over us while we slept and he was covered in blood, it felt really real so when I woke up and you were gone-" Daisy was cut off when Sammy stepped up to her so she could finally make out his features in the moonlight.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't going to leave for long and I could still see you. I'm sorry." He wrapped his arms around her and positioned her head underneath his chin.
"It's okay, the dream just put me on edge, you know?"
Sammy nodded and led the girl back to their spot with his arm wrapped around her shoulders. "Tell me about it, maybe it'll help us."
The two sat down with their legs crossed. Daisy looked at the boy in front of her before nodding and explaining everything that happened it was nothing traumatic just uncomfortable but Sammy listened and nodded along, squeezing her leg or hand to comfort her. It was his way of saying he would be there with her through all of her bad dreams and she understood that as if he said it aloud. No matter what happened they could stick together but there was still this pit of anxiety in Daisy's stomach telling her that he wouldn't stay and she couldn't figure out why.
