"How are we going to get the money for a plane ticket?" Daisy asked, folding her arms over her chest and raising her eyebrows at Sammy who was was explaining his plan to reunite with Duncan.

"We don't. The little twat will only get in our way." Jared shrugged, leaning back against the wall of the alley.

"You're a twat." Rudy responded as if on instinct. Jared's mouth fell open and he looked at Sammy as if saying. are you going to let him talk to me like that?

"He's only telling the truth." Sammy shrugged, attempting to return to his plans that he'd drawn on a paper towel.

"Fine, your a twat too." Jared shrugged.

Sammy looked at him and rolled his eyes. "Bloody tosser."

"Boys! Please, we're looking for Duncan, remember?" Daisy snapped her fingers in front of Sammy's face and let out a frustrated sigh. She and Rudy sat side-by-side across from Jared and Sammy in the middle of an empty alley way. The four of them had been homeless for the last months and living off of dumpsters and pity money from passing adults.

"We don't even have the money to get a nice dinner, there is zero chance I'm using my savings to find some mortal dickhead that thinks we're all dead. He's moved on, he has new friends and a new school." Jared looked at Rudy when he said the next part. "Your little boyfriend has moved on."

Rudy was up in an instant but Sammy was faster, putting his body between Rudy and Jared's. He poked a finger against Rudy's chest and stared at the boy's white eyes. "You know how much pity money we can make off of two blind seventeen-year-olds?"
His gaze shifted to Daisy and back to Rudy.

"I'm not blind." Rudy said in a low voice.

"The world doesn't know that." Sammy sent a look to Jared who seemed to be enjoying the idea of forcing Rudy out of his shell.

"Isn't that like. . .offensive to the blind community?" Daisy asked, hugging herself nervously.

"I'm sure they'll understand." Sammy smiled.

Rudy and Daisy were given a cardboard sign that read: WE'RE BLIND AND BROKE. Sammy sat between them with a cup for change and Jared was given the role of a random bystander picking a fight with Rudy in order to earn even more pity. The role suit him better than a beggar on the street.

Jared approached them and picked Rudy up by his collar, his expression was neutral but Sammy could tell he wasn't enjoying this. A few citizens stopped to watch the scene as Sammy stood up and tried to pull Jared off of Rudy but failing miserably. Drama class really paid off.

"You're not even blind!" Jared yelled loud enough to catch the attention of even more bystanders. He lowered his voice so that only Rudy could hear. "I'm gonna punch you, make it look real." He swung his fist at Rudy's face and Rudy fell to the ground coughing and panting.

A few random men pinned Jared against the wall while Sammy was helping Rudy stand. There was a line of blood pouring from the boy's nose and seeping into his mouth. Word spread fast, Jared ran from the cops, nearly getting caught a few times. Before long Daisy, Sammy, and Rudy's pockets were full of cash. They all met back at the alley to count their earnings.

"This isn't even close to enough, it's rarely enough for one ticket much less four." Daisy stated, recounting the money in her lap. She look at Sammy with her mouth open in despair.

Jared started dig into his back pocket and began pulling out wads of bills and slammed them into Sammy's palm before shrugging off his backpack and pulling out a bundle. "It's enough for two."

Everyone stared at him with their mouths agape. "Where did you-"

"I have my ways and you don't want to know what they are. Do you want to find your friend or not?" Jared cut Sammy off and rolled his eyes. "Rudy and I will take the tickets because I know you would never leave Daisy with me and I know Rudy refuses to stay behind. Is it settled?"

Sammy shot Rudy a look, Rudy nodded slightly. Sammy turned back to Jared. "In three months we meet up at the academy, that gives you enough time to find the money for three tickets back."

"Got it. Don't get yourselves killed while we're rocking red, white, and blue." Jared smiled and patted Sammy's shoulder before stepping out of the alley to leave Rudy to say goodbye.

Daisy pulled Rudy into a hug. "Bring him home, please. He needs to know we're alive."

"No promises, but I'll try." Rudy responded as Daisy pulled away. Sammy pulled him into a hug next and dramatically placed a long kiss on his cheek.

"We'll all be together again, we'll give Wren and Susie a funeral once we've got Duncan back." Sammy said into Rudy ear, patting the ginger's back and letting go.

"I might murder the old man before we even get to America, but we'll see." Rudy joined Jared at the end of the alley and the two made their walk to the airport.

"Did you just call me old?" Jared asked, dangerously eyeing the boy beside him. Words couldn't describe how badly he wanted to wrap an around around Rudy's shoulder like he would've a few years ago. He missed what they had, but he had trouble believing they'd ever find it again.

"What year were you born?" Rudy asked, returning the watchful eye.

"You weren't worried about my age when you were in my bed a few years ago, but now it's a problem?" Jared couldn't help but smile.

"You're disgusting."

"I bet you like that don't you?" Jared could hardly finish his sentence before Rudy smacked him in the head and grabbed his arm to drag the raven-haired boy to their destination. The boy didn't even argue.
