It had been two years since Hayes and Meredith had their conversation about how lonely it had been for them to not have anyone that understood them when it came to losing their love of their life. It was at that moment, Hayes realized that Meredith was going to be someone important in his life, but he didn't know to what extent.

Even though, they stopped dating for a while because of his son Austin, he was hoping that eventually they'll get back together. He got Austin a therapist, not only was that helping him, it was also helping Hayes and Liam to get over of some of their underlying issues.

As he was heading out after a long shift, he decided to just admire the snow. He was wearing his usual, a beanie to keep his head warm and his black coat he had that Abigail gifted the Christmas before she passed. It was his favorite and it served the purpose of keeping him warm.

As he was just observing the snow as it fell down from the sky, Meredith happened to also be coming out. She was wearing a green coat with black slacks. She noticed him just standing there, she missed him and the time they had together, but she hadn't told him about Nick, and she wasn't planning too, because to her it was just a fling and not someone she saw herself to be with forever. She was going to end it but she hadn't found the right time to do so.

"Hey, Hayes" she said startling him from whatever world he was in.

"Hey , Grey. You just got off too?" He said facing her now, admiring how gorgeous her eyes were under the snow.

"Yeah, I just finished a five-hour surgery. I'm just ready to go see my kids now... however, this brings back memories don't you think?" She said while closing the gap in between.

"Yeah it seemed like a lifetime ago, when our friendship started to blossom" he said noticing what he was doing, so he put his hands into his pockets.

Friendship. Meredith hated that word, she wanted more than friendship. She wanted to just admit to him that he's the one she wanted, but being the person she is she'd rather contain herself.

"You see, Grey. I no longer feel alone anymore when you came into my life. It was like coming for fresh air. I was able to forgive myself from thinking of the idea of moving on from Abigail. You made it easier for me to do so, and for that I am grateful to you" He said bashfully, moving closer to her as his eyes moved from her lips and back to her green eyes.

"Hayes, you're important to me, and I'll always going to be here for you as a friend or more..." she said taken aback to what she just admitted. She turned red and looked at the ground. She felt a hand on her chin that lifter her head up and now their eyes locked into the gaze of another. Each of them could see the softness, the passion, and the care, they had for one another. He used his thumb to rub her chin and slowly moved to rub underneath her bottom lip.

"Hayes..." she said in barely a whisper, as she bit her lip, knowing she couldn't hide the urge of kissing him.

"Hmm...." He said as he slowly leaned towards her and he used both of his hands to cup her face and planted one of the softest feather-like kiss she has ever experienced. She melted into his arms as her hands went around his neck and his moved down to her waist. She didn't realize but she used her arms to pull him closer and he did the same.

As their kiss turned into a more passionate one, he pulled away, knowing that both of them needed to grab some air. He looked down at her and smiled, trying to keep this moment captured in his mind, him and Meredith in the most intimate embrace. As he leaned his head towards her head, he looked down and saw her smiling.

"Thank you, Grey. Thank you for being my first."
