It was your typical morning at Grey-Sloan. Everyone was busy doing their own thing and every attending doing all their notes on the tablet. Meredith was walking down the hallways, she just got back from Minnesota; however things felt off when she entered the hospital, but she couldn't figure out what.

She was happy she was back in Seattle, yeah Minnesota was great, but research only entertains her so much, unlike surgery. She loved being chief of general surgery, but going back into neuro was nice and it reminded her of Derek. The only down side of it all was that he wasn't there with her, Amelia wasn't that bad to be around with especially since she helped a lot through the research for Parkinson's. She rekindled her romance with Nick, the transplant surgeon from four years ago, but after a few dates, she noticed she didn't feel anything for him but friendship.

She realized that she had big feelings for Hayes. Every time she'd kiss Nick, she'd pictured Hayes instead. After the months they were together, before they had to break up, were the happiest she'd ever been. Being Nick was the safe option and it wasn't doing anything good for her, because she'd picture Hayes all the time. Especially in her dreams, that weren't so friendly and more risqué.

As she got to the cafeteria, all she heard was the Irish accent she grew to miss and love. As she turned around to see who he was talking to she saw a familiar red head and it was Megan Hunt. Being honest to herself, she was kind of bitter due to the whole Nathan situation because they were able to rekindle their love and she wasn't. As she heading towards the lunch area to grab food, all she could do was stare. She noticed how bubbly Megan was with Hayes and how everything he told her made him laugh. She didn't want to be jealous, but who was she kidding. It made her blood boil because even if she didn't want to admit it, she didn't want to lose someone she dearly liked to Megan again. As she was heading towards the front of the line, Megan noticed her. It had been a long time since she talked to, and truth be told she wanted to update her about Nathan and wanted to catch up since they were practically the same person, except for the fact that she was more bubbly and Meredith was more dark and twisted.

"Hey, Meredith. Why don't you come and join us?" Megan yelled from the table she was sitting in with Hayes. Hayes wasn't expecting this and as he turned around to see her, he couldn't keep her eyes of her. She was beautiful even with her dark blue scrubs, but he had to remember that she treated him as a second option and he couldn't just give in so easily. Truth be told, he missed her and it was hard still adjusting to the fact that she left for Minnesota for half the week. It was nice seeing her after all this time, it was just bittersweet.

"What are you guys talking about" Meredith questioned as she grabbed a chair to sit and placed her food down on the table. "Nothing much, he was just telling me about his electric fence story." Megan said still giggling about how he was stupid enough to get that close to one just for a girlfriend. "Oh really?" She said kind of disappointed, her voice dropped and Hayes noticed. In her mind she felt betrayed just solely on the fact that she hasn't even heard the story, but Megan did. "Uh, I can tell it again, if you don't mind." Hayes said trying to make Meredith feel comfortable and guilty that he hadn't told even after they had been sort of dating for a while before he ended things. "Oh, no. It's fine, don't worry about it." She said and with that she lost her appetite.

Meredith was trying so hard to find an excuse to leave because she just couldn't handle everything that was happening. She was heartbroken, disappointed, sad, and angry and she couldn't be sitting with them anymore. It was like he moved on, and she couldn't blame him, after all she did tell him about Nick but she also hadn't told him that they broke things off a couple of weeks ago. That's when her pager went off. She was grateful that she finally had to leave. "Anyways, I'll see you guys later, I have to go check up on a patient." Meredith said getting up from the table. "You're not gonna eat?" Megan asked kind of concerned that she barely touched her food. "I can't, I lost my appetite, anyways I'll catch up with you guys later." Meredith said walking away and throwing her food away.
