Canine System: To Live a Fulfilling Life

The Contract

Inside the void space that exists between different universe and mission worlds, lies the headquarters of the systems. This headquarters deals with transmigration and reincarnation cycles of souls that died from their first lives and transfer them to different worlds without their memories to avoid any unnecessary conflicts and world doom that happened a billion light-years ago. 

There are different ranking and categories of systems functioning inside the headquarters. A group of systems for pitiable souls, a group of systems for vengeful souls, free-spirited souls, animal souls, and more.

On a common day in the headquarters, the group of systems for animal souls suddenly got a notification from the mainstream that the Canine System was being summoned. All of the systems looked at the person in question who was with his perked ears and confused face while looking at the notification. 

"Hey mutt, the mainstream was calling for you, how long are you going to stare at the screen?" The Canine System looked to the side and saw the Feline System leisurely sitting in her seat with a glare towards him. 

"Must you always be a jerk while talking to other animal systems, Feline System?" The canine system frowned at the Feline System feeling upset. 

"Can't do nothing about that, I'm an inborn jerk, live with it," Feline System just shrugged before making a shooing gesture. Canine System gritted his teeth before he went towards the elevator that will lead to the main control room. 

When he went inside the white conference room, He didn't see the higher-ups and instead, found a soul sitting in a lax manner in one of the many chairs inside the room. 

"Who are you?" The Canine System was wary towards the soul who feel dangerous and unpredictable to a system like him. Because he's an animal system- especially a canine at that, his senses were heightened and he can hear some warning bells inside of his mind just watching that guy that is seven meters away from him. 

"I want to make a contract with you, Canine System," The mysterious soul said while maintaining eye contact with him. Canine System bared his fangs and growled at the soul who was acting so leisurely as if he owns the place and things will go as he planned. 

"And who are you to make a contract with me? You're just a soul, and aside from that, you're a HUMAN soul, not a canine! What kind of absurd thoughts are you having right now?!" Canine system growled at the soul with a vexed emotion. 

How could these soul- a human at that, could just casually wave a contract on his face as if being an animal- or in his case- a canine, could lead to a good life?! 

The Canine system wanted to lash out and lecture this dumb human soul about the kind of abuse that every animal could get from humans. Neglect, Put down, Bred weak unable to defend themselves- simply too much just for their entertainment and convenience!

Canine System watched the calm Human Soul while he was controlling his temper and rage inside his chest, making him feel stuffy. 

"The contract, will you read it first before you make a decision?" The Human soul said before making the folder in front of him slide towards the direction of the Canine System. The system looked at the clean folder before begrudgingly took it from the table and opened it. 

The first thing that caught his eyes were the words: "Male lead" and "Revenge" He looked confused and decided to read through the contract, and he was even more baffled. 

What kind of contract is this? Its very one-sided, where he, the Canine System will benefit the most! Aside from that, there were clauses regarding world hopping with this soul as a canine and ensuing discord between the male lead and female leads of the worlds, not bringing the world to a ruin, but to prioritize saving the abused canines in each worlds?

"Huh, bold of you to assume that just because the male lead and the female lead won't be together, you can try your hands on saving the canines who were cruelly meeting bad fates," The sarcasm and hate in the Canine System's soul was evident. The Human soul was quiet while he looked back at the system. The system saw the dead and blank look in its dark eyes before feeling oppressed and fearful. 

Just who is this person? How could he be so powerful? Canine System was both curious and at the same time cautious. After a long while of silence, the human soul spoke. 

"I had a loyal friend from my previous world... He was very smart and it was as if he knows what's right and wrong just from looking at my actions... However, behind my back, he was taken away and was made as a human food because of my distrust... I couldn't forgive myself, and I hated people like this. Canine System, with my help, even if I cannot eradicate all of the bad deeds that humans do towards the canines, I could at least make a movement and stir them to the right paths," The Human soul said and stood up, Canine System frowned and looked at the soul up and down. 

"And who exactly are you to have such high confidence and will to HELP animals?" Canine System still cannot let go of his hate and asked the human soul. 

"Me? I'm the first transmigrating person who finished the tasks with one of the higher tier systems: The Truth System" The Soul said that made the Canine System's eyes go wide open. 

No way?! Its the legendary host who finishes the missions under a year?! How is that possible, going to him, a lower tier system and an animal system at that?

Confusion, wariness, excitement, and astonishment were evident on his eyes while he stare at the human soul. 

"Canine System, will you agree in the contract?"

"W-What? Ah, yes the contract, I am still not sure about agreeing to this, a human in a canine's body is-"   Canine System struggled to make some excuses while avoiding eye-contact with the human soul. Its obvious that he doesn't want it.

"Its fine, you can take your time. I will wait for your answer," The human soul smiled before going inside the elevator from the other side of the room, leaving the Canine System there a bit dumbfounded. 

"Thomas White," 

Someone called the Human Soul who just arrived at another lobby in the upper level of the headquarters.
