So many souls, that lost control

Where did they fall?

Into the deep, what do they seek?

Where did they fall?

Hearts will dream again

Lungs will breathe in

♓How's Roxas doing with the reading and writing?♓Kairi asks at breakfast. ♓It's been two weeks. Any progress?♓

⛎He's doing amazing actually,⛎ Sora reveals as he butters his toast. ⛎I almost can't believe how fast he's learning.⛎

He reveals that in the past two weeks Roxas practically devours every reading and writing lesson. They do writing for an hour or so, take a break to eat, and then switch to reading. He tries to get Roxas to recognize the words he's been practicing and using sign language to translate it. The speed with which Roxas recognizes his new words is phenomenal, and he does so with minimal mistakes. And the mer makes sure to proudly boast how good he is at it at every turn.

⛎I don't wanna say he's a prodigy, but,⛎ Sora shrugs and takes a bite of his food. ⛎He's kind of a prodigy.⛎

♓Is he writing sentences yet?♓Kairi asks as she pours kibble into the cat's food bowl.

⛎Nah, I haven't taught him much grammar,⛎Sora admits. ⛎But he's getting nouns and adjectives quickly. Writes things like 'big fish,' 'blue ocean,' and 'hot sand' pretty easily.⛎

Riku hums and cuts into his sausage before chiming in.

♏He might have some difficulty with articles. Aquan doesn't have much in the way of 'a', 'an,' and 'the', as it's all implied,♏Riku tells him. ♏But if he's picking it up as fast as you say he is, he might be able to read and write on a basic level before the migration ends.♏

⛎Here's hopin'⛎Sora says, raising a glass and clinking it to Riku's before taking a gulp. ⛎How's the translator?⛎

Kairi groans in dramatic agony and melts into her chair at the table. After a few unintelligible noises murmured into the air, Riku translates for her.

Her program is having trouble, and it's frustrating her to no end. The translator works by analyzing the words spoken into it, breaking it down into a romanization, and then turning that romanized Aquan into English. Problem is, not all the sounds that go into the Marakihau language have a letter equivalent. They have several clicks and guttural noises at different pitches that they can't really assign roman letters to, and it's messing with the program. It gives them the wrong words or just errors in general.

♓I fucking... ugh... ♓Kairi groans and beats her head gently against the surface. ♓The program was designed to go through all the steps and now I'm just... UGH...♓

⛎Yikes,⛎ Sora grimaces with sympathy. ⛎That bad, huh?⛎

♏Yeah,♏Riku chuckles while he pats her back. ♏I think she just over-complicated it somehow.♏

⛎Dumb it down,⛎ Sora suggests. ⛎Or have Remus help.⛎

♓ Remus's busy with his song stuff,♓ Kairi grumbles, but then she sits up, alert. ♓Wait. He does a lot of things with pitch recognition. Has programs so he can recognize different mer without having... to do... any work...♓She trails off as the gears click into place.
