The sociological perspective is all about being able to see society for the reality that it is instead of the reality that people make it out to to be. It allows for one to understand the connections between societal issues and personal issues and understand that there are undeniable influences that help shape our lives depending on where you are in time and space. Without the sociological perspective we would not be able to appreciate the various interpretations of words, the difference in norms and cultural traditions, and the various types of societal structures that exist or have existed in the world. It's also pretty extensive in itself since it actually breaks down to 4 main sociological perspectives which are the symbolic interaction perspective, the fundamentalist perspective, the conflict perspective and the feminist perspective. This allows us to not only understand society from a variety of view points but it also encourages us to ask questions in areas we might not have otherwise. Unfortunately, sociology is not taught as a main course in most grammar or high schools, but rather as an elective.
