The significance of Republic Act 8491, or the “Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines,” is for us to be aware how the philippines won the war from the spanish it is important because it symbolize our country the peace in our country and for us to know what is right and wrong facts about our Philippine flag we need to show our love and respect in our Philippine Flag mandates that reverence and respect shall be accorded at all times to the Philippine flag As a sign of respect, all persons shall stand at attention and face the Philippine flagSalute the flag whenever it is paraded, when the Pledge of Allegiance is said, or when the National Anthem is played. Those not in uniform should salute the flag by standing at attention, tall and straight, with the left arm at the side, and placing the right hand over the heart.if there is one displayed, and if there is none, they shall face the band or the conductor. At the first note, all persons shall execute a salute by placing their right palms over their left chests  the national anthem and other national symbols that embody the country's ideals and traditions, and express the principles of sovereignty The amendment of Republic Act 8491, or the law that prescribes the Code of the heraldic items and devices in the Philippines, is intended to invigorate love of country and underscore the importance of complying with standard expressions of respect for our national symbols.
