The sun gleamed down at us as we traveled, it was hard not trying to stare at it. My Maya may be resting up there and yet I wouldn't know until I see her, if I ever do. (Y/n) had been silent for most of the trip, only speaking of warning for obstacles along the path. I wasn't sure what to think about them exactly. Their hair was wild with many small braids in their hair and bound up where they could. They had quite a strong build, kept fit and healthy making them fill out their outfit. They had a black undershirt on that reached their knees and a pair of shorts. A belt wrapped around their waist, filled with little pockets filled with something, their arms and legs had armored cuffs, there were leather pads along their joints and torso, and if was finished with a pair of black boots.

What stood out most about them was their eyes. One was a beautiful green you'd find when the light of the sun shined through a tree leaf on a mid summer day. The other was a shimmery yellow that gave the appearance of liquid gold with spects of copper dropped in. Green eyes, though uncommon, wasn't much of a suprise but yellow was something new to see. Something else interesting was their axe. It was a battle axe decorated in gold with a leather handle, a puma carved into the side of the blade was easy to spot though their clothing showed no other claim to the Golden Mountains and the barbarians they held.

"So what's a puma doing so far from the den?" I asked them.

"Excuse me?" They asked, glancing back at me.

"Your axe, its one of the Golden Mountains' kingdom" I pointed to the axe they held close.

"I no longer live in the kingdom and no longer am a puma barbarian" They replied looking forward once more.

"Then why keep the axe?"

"It would be a stain of shame to lay a blade down when it has claim many respectable warriors and holds a contant reminder of where I am welcome" they replied staring at the blade for a few seconds.

"Why are you no longer with them? Leaving your birth place must be hard" I tried to widdle out some kind of information.

"I don't wish to talk about it. I wasn't even born there, only raised" they said, try to end the conversation.

It was clear that they were uncomfortable by their words and tence muscles. The attatched the axe to their bag and crossed their arms. I pushed no further as they had set a clear boundary and it would be disrespectful to continue something that clearly bothered them. I know I wouldn't appreseat someone forcing out my past. My thoughts quickly drifted to my sore feet. I wasn't used to walking so much, I've always had my skeleton battle cat to ride on.

The sun was nearly out of the sky by now, the moon showing ever so slightly as the sky was starting to change orange once more. A green start started to shine down on us, followed by a purple on by it's side. Warmth eruoted in my chest as I looked up at them, my parent's loving gazes almost seemed to graze my face as I returned such emotions. When I looked back at (Y/n) they were turning off the path. I followed them, trusting their knolloge of the area as they led us to a clearing in the woods.

"We'll set up camp here for the night. At this rate we'll make it to Teca by late evening tomorrow. Go gather some wood, I'll hunt something down" they spoke.

"I can help hunt, I have gone out many of times myself" I offered.

"That won't be necessary, but if you feel the need to provide something other then wood see if you can find any fruit, vegetables, or mushrooms" She replied, dropping their bag and grabbing their axe, "I'll be back just before the sun is set."

"Be well (Y/n), may your hunt be successful. I'll see you soon" I replied as I watched them leave.

"May your gathering be plentiful and the stars watch over you" (Y/n) replied back as they disappeared into the woods.
