Chapter 10

As you stepped out of the cave you ran your fingers over the spider like ring. The tension hadn't lightened even now out of the cave. Maya, brushing off web strands as she glares at the two spiders who had led you to the cave. She hadn't spoken anything towards anyone but grumbling could be heard. Zatz had led you by the arm out of the cave, hooked arms as he tried his best to stay calm and look anywhere but at Maya. It was clear both were displeased.

  You found yourself staring at Zatz however. You had never seen him so unnerved, furrowed brows, a tight line across his lips, slightly squinted eyes, and deep breathing. The moonlight poured down onto his silvery white hair, making it shine and his skin glow. It was qs if the stars had danced him along the sky, collecting the light and star dust as he went. Even angry he held your arm gently, not gripping or tight but loose. Catching yourself staring too long you looked away, straight on the path you were walking. The tension would snap, it was only a matter of time as you entured your camp.

"Why didn't you defend me?" Maya asked as we stood in the middle of our camp.

"I do not wish to speak of this matter infrom of our guest and (Y/n)" Zatz replied politely as he walked you towards your tent.

Maya wore a deep frown, her arms crossed. Her brows were pointed down and her nose was pointed up. She refused to follow as Zatz guided you to your tent. He opened the flap for you, letting go of your arm. The spiders entured the tent, positioning themselves on both side of the tent.

"Get some rest now, we'll have to travel in the morning" Zatz told you.

"You should as well, good night" you spoke before stepping into the tent.

"Good night" Zatz replied flashing a small smile to you before letting the tent flap fall, you could no longer see them as you settled yourself onto your sleeping bag.

"You left me stuck in a web on the ground!" Maya exclaimed to him.

"You had put yourself into that situation. I told you to wait for me but you rush into a cave full of the past gods' beasts! You might have been killed if (Y/n) wasn't on good turns with their queen" Zatz explained.

"How was I expected to wait when the most important person of our quest? They had to have been kidnapped if we were tied up in our sleep!" Maya defended herself.

"But (Y/n) wasn't and you should always negotiate first, if not just to buy time. We must always approach things with diplomacy even if we are under the impression the individual appears to be undeserving of it. She was right though, I have never seen you act like that. Why?" Zatz asked.

"Act like what? I was just defending my own! Those spiders could be as dangerous as those snakes that held you down!"

"Have you jumped into a fight without much preparation? Yes, at times you have, but in new territory and new foes you always gather information though out the fight. Not only that but you went for the kill without hesitation. Where is the honor in killing?" Zatz asked.

"There doesn't need to be honor is every thing you do or everything you fight! Zatz if you play by rules you make for yourself your going to get yourself killed one of these days!" Maya exaggerated.

"Honor is everything Maya. It defines the good from the evil, the best from the average, the noble from the regular. Honor is something to make you and your people proud. Without honor you lack humanity. Honor is important and if your willing to go past your own morals or change them in to win a fight or better your situation then what kind of person does that make you?" Zatz asked.

"The kind who get things done and protects my loved ones!"

"You can do that with honor! And you weren't defending anyone out there, you were putting us at risk you were putting (Y/n)'s family at risk and possibly to their death and turn around with the senselessness to tell their sister that they couldn't be family because they weren't the same species! Tell me, was the queen of Teca still family to you when you learned she wasn't your mother?" Zatz asked.
