In one split second, I can see things have changed

Awaken me to a darkness too bright to look at

Exposing myself to nightmares and terrors of the past

A past full of fears so intense they haunt the future

Opening your eyes to reveal an array of emotions

Opening my mind to feelings so deep they can't feel themselves

Taking in a lifetime of pain all in one split second

Overworking the heart and ripping the soul

Opening your eyes to things I couldn't otherwise know

A river of tears hotter than the fires of hell slipping through my lips,

My tongue tasting the bitterness of regretful sorrow

Opening my mind to a past so messed up it can't imagine itself

Opening your eyes to things others would never see

I see this fear of judgment that makes you cower at confrontation

I see this hopelessness for the future that make your choices your burden alone

I see this desperate need for companionship to make you strong

Opening your eyes to things others would never see

I see this courage caged in your thoughts of grief

I see this feckless motivation that you yearn to bring life

I see this devotion that makes you fear of death

In one spilt second, I can see things have changed

Awaken me to the honest strength too bright to ignore

Opening your eyes, I promise you things will be just fine

If you have no faith in my words, it will show in due time

Opening your eyes, the truth is revealed, I see the authentic, I see what is real

Opening your eyes, closing them again. in one split second I have seen within

Be strong, weary one- gaze into the light

That now reflects in your eyes, green and shining bright.
