Caged Princess

Four steel bars
Keeping her away from freedom
Her wings are bound
Her lips sealed shut

Her tongue is silenced
Her voice can never be heard
She screams out her lungs
Only to be left ignored

She stares out into the oblivion
Ignoring the world passing by
Some say she will forever be caged
Left unknown to mankind

She cranes her neck to look behind her
There lay the key
Never once has she thought of using it
Never once has she thought of setting herself free

She knows of the terrors
Some say she is nothing but a coward
Hiding behind closed gates
Trembling in tear in a pool of anguish

It is a choice
A choice her mind has made
A choice that gave her clarity
The world now seen in a new perspective

Slowly she strokes her hair
She is reminded of the crown that was once there
She took it off without any doubt
With a subtle smile she smashes it into smithereens

Now the world is in need of royalty
For it is in need of an heiress
But no one can ever replace the nobility
Of the ever dear caged princess
