you stare into lou's beautiful blue eyes. they were so unique, you felt you could just get lost in the color forever. lou was staring back into your eyes. you couldn't wrap your head around how someone could be so beautiful so effortlessly. she clears her throat, almost as if she was snapping out of a daze. she gently places you back onto the bed you fell off of. "your savior?" she teases. you laugh. "i mean, you're always there to catch me when i fall." you smile. lou smiles back. a comfortable silence falls between the both of you. "shit," lou says looking at the clock in your room. "what?" you ask, fearing you did something wrong. "no, it's just i was supposed to be at the bar 10 minutes ago," she says standing up. "about that," you add before she leaves the room. "when do i start?" you ask. "whenever you'd like." lou responds with a cheeky smirk as she runs down the stairs. you laugh to yourself. god dammit.
a light knock comes from the other side of your door. you pop up from your pillow. you were catching up on some reading. you had the longest list of books you swore you were going to read, but never got around to doing. "come in," you say. the door opens to reveal rose weil, smiling. her glasses perched on the tip of her nose and her frizzy hair in a messy bun that she pulled off so well. "hi rose," you say sitting up. "sorry, i hope i'm not interrupting." she says walking into your room. "no, your not. i'm just catching up on some reading," you say with a smile. "i was just wondering if maybe you wanted to join me for some tea in the kitchen," rose questions. you smile. "of course i do."
you follow rose downstairs into the kitchen. you sit at the island as rose gathers materials from the cupboards. "which type would you prefer?" she asks, sifting through numerous tea bags. "i'll have whatever you're having," you respond. "perfect." rose responds as she turns the kettle on. it wasn't an old-fashioned one that required to be heated up on the stove, it was a newer one that would heat up electronically. rose places her elbows onto the counter, providing support to her head. "i just wanted to apologize for last night," you started, trying to fill the silence. "don't apologize for that. it was actually very sweet." rose explains. you smile. "so what's your story?" she asks as she watches your movements. "well, i'm a college dropout. only child, asshole parents. drink myself drunk," you say with a light chuckle. rose smiles at you. you sigh. "tammy told you, didn't she?" rose read like a book. you weren't stupid. you know the familiar looks of pity and sympathy. "yes, she told everyone besides lou," rose responds. you exhale the hair out of your face. "i'm really okay," you say. "the fact that you say that to everyone, makes me believe that you're really not." the kettle's button pops, informing rose the water was done boiling. she pours the water equally into two mugs. you watch her make the tea as she brings it over to you. she takes a seat next to you. "i used to be sad too, you know. no one understood my sense of fashion and it made me sad for a while. it even made me change the way i designed clothing. but sooner rather than later, i realized it was pointless making these changes to assholes who didn't appreciate it." you nod. "what i'm trying to say, is i know how lonely it can be," rose says. "it is really fucking lonely." you reply. "don't try and make me feel better by lying to me about how you're really feeling," rose says. you sigh again. "honestly, i'm just really relieved now. before i wasn't so sure i can do it. but now that i'm here with so many people that seem so kind and caring. i have hope that i'm going to be okay." rose smiles at you. you smile back and take a sip of the tea. "oh my god," you say covering your mouth. "that is the most delicious cup of tea i've ever had," you state to rose. she laughs. "well all you americans don't know what real tea tastes like." you burst into laughter. "very true," you say between laughter. "it's all diluted and the flavor is stripped because americans like 'sweet' things." rose's eyes widen as she covers her mouth to not let any giggles escape. "my, my," tammy says walking into the kitchen. "i see you have a sense of humor." you beam at tammy. "i guess i do. thank you for breakfast, by the way." tammy stands on the other side of the counter. "but you didn't eat any," she says. "but it was the thought that counted. plus, the coffee i had was splendid," you say with a smile. tammy smiles back at you. "thank you for those kind words. i actually have to talk to you about something. can you come with me?" tammy asks. you nod and follow her out of the kitchen. "i think it'd be better if we spoke outside," tammy says. "okay." you reply, following tammy out of the front door.
