June

It's been three years since Day and I have gotten back together, and it's been an amazing three years. I never realized how much I truly needed him until he wasn't there. It's  not the same as it used to be, it never will be, but at least now we can look into each others eyes without seeing all the pain from the past.

We've had our fair share of dangerous encounters due to our history, but we've always faced them together, and no matter what the situation, we can always figure it out.

Now, we're on a mission in the one of many slums scattered all throughout the Republic. This one should be easy. We were notified that a group of what seemed to be inexperienced men were planning on robbing the nearby bank and that we should check it out. Day is by my side as we make our way towards our destination.

“How long do you think this'll take June?" he asked, sounding slightly annoyed. “I need to get back to Eden soon..."

“Don't worry. We'll sort this out and be gone within the next twenty minutes. Now come on, it's this building here."

As we turned the corner, we saw a group of men huddling in the alley, deep in conversation. I counted four of them.

“This isn't right," I whispered. “There should be six people, not four..."

Day, tensing, replied with, “I'll go around the other way. See if I can't spot them," he gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. “Stay  safe."

As he silently made his way around, I crouched down and tried to get in closer to listen in on their conversation.

“...have to lure them here. We can't afford to mess this up, not again." As one of the men turned to the side, I could see he was holding something. It was bulky and black and had displayed  an array of buttons on it.

   A gasp escaped my mouth.

   Oh no.

  It was a bomb.

   He was holding a bomb.

This was no ordinary bomb either. It was specially made for when we were at war. They were manufactured not long after the battle where Day was nearly killed when the Republic decided they needed better weapons to be able to defend itself with. We first got the technology from Antarctica, and it was very, very, dangerous.

These men were far from inexperienced. They were deadly.

   I have to warn Anden.

   I have to warn Day

The thought barely crossed my mind when two sets of arms dragged me out from behind and a thickly gloved hand covered my mouth, muffling my shocked screams.
