As I chase after the van speeding away before me, I see June's face in the window. She looks so scared. So frightened. And I'm not there to help her. I was a trot for leaving her. Such a stupid move, and now I'm paying the price.

She bangs on the window, screaming my name, desperately trying to reach out to me. But she can't. I have to catch up. I have to get to her before it's too late. Once I lose them, I have no indication as to where or when I'll see her again.

With a newfound energy, I sprint as fast as I ever have towards her. Her terrified eyes keep me pushing forward.

She calls my name again and again. But then a rag is clamped over her mouth and her eyes roll back and her body disappears from view.

“JUNE!!" I scream. But it's useless.

I start to hyperventilate. I told Anden I wouldn't lose her. I promised her I'd always keep her safe. This wasn't supposed to happen.

Tears start to stream down my presumably blotchy face as I continue to run. Then a man leans out the passenger seat window and aims a gun at me.

   I freeze.

The trigger is pulled and a bullet comes rushing towards me.

Seconds later, I'm on the ground
