Well, that was all about how I became a vampire. It was a little on the dramatic end, and I accept that. But that's exactly how it happened, afterall, being a vampire and then growing accustomed to it, it's not a daily occurrence now, is it? How many of you or your family are vampires?
Exactly. Even if any of you were, why would you tell the humans, right? Its not a written rule, but like, that would be really stupid of a thing to do.
Well, what happened after that? Hmm. That's interesting too, but only some incidents out of my whole nine hundred year narrative. And I'll be only telling you those now.
So after this secret royal meeting, my life went back to normal. Well. My new normal. I was supposed to have at least six months of counselling, before I was left free into the wild wild world, and it was worth every hour of it I took. I learnt a lot of practical skills for survival, self defence, incognity and stuff. Around three days after the tea party incident and I'm guessing three weeks into the counselling? Yea, I think it was three weeks. I got to feed from a real human feeder. And even after practicing on CPR style dummies for over a week, this was a VERY DIFFERENT affair. And I have to say, it was NOT easy. Not easy at all. First issue of all, it felt WEIRD! Leaning in towards someone's neck to suck their blood wasn't something I used to do as a human, and I just didn't feel very excited about it! Second issue was the positioning. I never really got it right, at least till I was in the counselling. It took me over two years to finally get it right, and till then I always had to carry an apron to not ruin my clothes, a baby bib style, but around my body. That was an embarrassing time, but good thing no one from that time is still alive and here to laugh about it. Well, except the trainee vamps who were with me, but I'm not sure they even remember me at this point, because even I don't remember their faces.
Okay so if I now try to describe that feeling, that leaning in for that first bite... It's funny to actually describe it you know, especially when there's so much taboo that has been created around it today. It's almost exclusively written about in today's literature as if it's only, and ONLY a sexual activity! No! Absolutely not! It's something like eating food. You do it regularly, it becomes habitual and you get used to it. It's more of I need this to stay alive than ooh look a sensual experience.
So, when I actually got to do my first bite, I was weirdly aware of both sides of the equation, well. Only because I had been on the other side. I wanted to make sure to do everything to ensure that the feeder was also in no kind of discomfort during the whole session. In any case, it was messy. I couldn't control that, it was only my first time! The feeder didn't mind though. These were apparently specially trained feeders, which I got to know about later, especially for the trainee vamps like us. They were used to the spills and drips, and it was a pretty bloody affair between all four of us trainees.
The thing that was a first for me, was the blood. Even though I was used to the skin piercing routine on the dummies, which was fairly easy to be honest, with the fangs that I had grown, I had never actually tasted blood in this large of a quantity. That day, it wasn't a matter of developing the taste though, but I did develop an instant hunger for more of it the more I drank. It tasted like... how do I describe the taste. Hmm. Coins? Have you ever sucked on the small coins? That's the closest I can relate the taste to. It was metallic and slightly salty, a bit sweet. A bit fatty? Kind of. Yea.
Blood is a weird flavour, but you develop the taste for it over years.
