June 1979, Los Angeles

"Come on! Just one more shot!", called a paparazzo who stood behind my managers car.

"You've got your photos and now leave her alone", shouted my manager Brian while I got into the car. The paparazzo's were too obsessed with famous people. They always tried to get the best photo to ruin you. I couldn't even go shopping without people chasing after me. It was crazy! I was only human. Just like them!

After a twenty minute car ride, we arrived at the set of a very popular talk show. I was one of the guests.

"You all know her, the girl who started with her piano and now climbs the charts with her new Album 'Find Me', let's welcome the beautiful and very talented Christina Grimmie!", the moderator called and the audience applauded and cheered.

Covered behind the curtains I could finally come out. I walked to the hostess to hug her and waved to the audience.

"Thanks for coming Christina!", the moderator said full of excitement.

"Thanks for having me.", I replied with a smile.

"So this is your first interview since your first album is out. How does that feel?", she asked.

"It's really great to finally have your own music out."

"It's been five days since your album 'Find Me' is out, in those five days it climbed up to the top three album charts! That's incredible."

"Yeah I heard from that today, thank you.", I said happily.

"Will there be a tour?", she asked.

"Um.. Actually yes for now a small tour in America and Canada and you can get tickets in a couple of days.", I answered full of excitement.

"Alright, so you turned eighteen two months ago, right?

"Yes."

"It's really unbelievable what you're doing at such a young age and your huge success. So you started with the piano back then? Can you tell us more?", she wanted to know.

"Thanks, so when I moved to LA three years ago, I knew that it was boring as hell alone without friends. So at the time I lived by my mothers cousin Mary Grimmie, I hadn't anything better to do than going down to the pub where her husband worked and play the piano. One morning it wasn't opened yet and I sneaked into it. I tried my best to play any kind of melody from a song. I worked an hour til I liked it, and the song I was working on was 'Forever Came Today' by The Jackson Five. Nick, Mary's husband heard and liked it. He said I could play here some well known songs and make a little money after school. I agreed and that's how it all started. And about a year later my manager Brian Hecox came to all of my 'shows' and offered me a record deal.", I told.

"I like your story. Do you wanna sing a song from your new Album 'Find Me' for our audience?", asked the moderator.

"I would love to!", I replied and walked over to the piano.

After the show, I could finally go home and relax. I turned on the radio and made myself some dinner. There was almost the same thing every day: sports, accidents but today the newscaster talked about The Jackson Five! I turned the volume up.

"Michael Jackson from The Jackson Five has announced a Solo-Album. Will the band drown because the lead singer has left? We'll find out in a couple of years!", he reported.

Even though I was an artist myself, I couldn't resist jumping around. The Jackson Five were my favorite band since I was about five years old and I knew that Michael is going to be huge. I also hoped that his brothers will continue making music.

I finished cooking and ate as suddenly my phone rang.

"Hello? Grimmie here.", I said.

"Hey uhm.. Christina I am really excited to tell you, that you are nominated twice for the Grammy Awards next year!", my manager called.

"W-what?", I muttered.

"You heard me right, for best female artist and favorite album. You will even Perform there, so we have to decide which song we pick, this is going to be great!", Brian told with excitement.

"Uhm.. Wait, so me at the Grammy's? I just can't.. That's crazy!", I screamed from excitement.

"Yes, I'll pick you up tomorrow at 10 o'clock! We have a lot of work to do. But for now good night and congratulations!", said Brian.

"I'll be ready. Good night and thank you very much for those huge news!", I replied full of happiness.

More good news! I continued eating and when I finished I cleaned the dishes.

For the whole evening I've been so happy and excited. Couple years ago I wouldn't have even imagined all this.

A couple years ago...

I went to my living room and looked at the picture of my mother, which stood next to my piano. Her thick brown hair, those hazel eyes and that shy smile of hers. I would never forget her.

"Was she doing well?", I asked myself.

It has been over three years. Far too long since I have seen her.

"You can make it, you're smart. I love you so much my little girl.", were her last words.

My life has been so much better since I left home, despite the fact that I have no one here.

I am all alone.

Mary married Nick last year and they left LA. They decided to travel the world.

It was obvious that my parents and my brother Mark knew about my singing career. But why did they never tried to call or write me?

Well, why did I even ask myself, I knew how my father was.

He probably hates me and my brother as well. But my dear mother was always there for me. I needed to know if she was doing fine.

Back then she took care of me, now I am able to take care of her.

And if she still isn't happy with her life in New Jersey, I will bring her home to me, to look after her.

My eyes begun tearing and I kissed the photo of my mother and put it on it's place.

"Am I ready for my first Tour and the Grammy Awards?", I asked myself before going to bed.

Something told me that I was.

I was ready.
