Dark sits at the wooden desk in his office, reading through pages of paperwork tiredly. Even though he works for hours every day, he never seems to make that big of an impact on the evergrowing pile of paperwork the other egos cause. They always seem to be breaking something or getting Dark to cover up their bloody messes after someone goes on a killing spree. However, he only gets a few moments of quiet because he hears a set of footsteps slowly approaching his office door before they stop in what sounds like a heavy heap in the corridor.
The door creaks open, leaving just enough room for an unnervingly quiet glitch to squeeze through. Dark lets out a sigh and continues to read through his work. Only half-listening to the door click close, and the shuffles towards the bookshelf on the other side of the room.
"hmph! ugh... hmph!"
He flicks through the stapled paper and signs everywhere he needs. "humph! Hmph! Haa... hmph! fuck..."
Dark moves the paper onto his 'finished' pile and grabs another, reading carefully but quickly over each word, trying his damndest to ignore the other's presence. He notices shuffling come up to his desk, glitching, loudening slightly, and a chair gets dragged to the bookshelf. This was then followed by the sound of something heavy thump on the chair, a creek, and the sound of the glitch falling off said chair.
"Bah! Fucking hell! Oof!" Dark finally looks up from his work and towards the noise at the vague realization that the stupid glitch just fell on his ass and acknowledges the other. "You do realise you're distracting me from my work, right?"
"Fuck off emo bastard!" The glitch seethes out. He was lying on his back and wrapped in a grey blanket, one foot caught between the chair backing and brown hair a disaster. Many of the books had also fallen off the bookshelf and on top of his rival. The glitch was trying to soothe a huge red mark that was currently forming on their forehead with their shaky hand, their face squished up with a mix of pain and annoyance. "Motherfucker..."
"Permission to laugh?"
"You can do that?" The glitch looks up at Dark from his place on the floor with his bright bottle-green eyes. "Shut up." Dark gets up from his seat and casually stalks over to the demon on the floor, looking down at them when he gets over to them, and pushes his foot off the chair slowly. "What exactly were you trying to do?"
"None of your buisness..."
"I think it is considering this is my office."
"And I think you should piss off back to your old-man work."
"How... indelicate of you." Dark picks up the book in Anti's hand and examines it for creases before checking the cover. "Wonder, hm?" He looks back to Anti, who is still laying on the floor, pouting, their cheeks darkening as he closes his eyes again. "What of it tool? I just so happened to grab it on my way down here. I was't going to read it! Reading is for nerds and I'm NOT a nerd!"
"Then what were you doing by my bookshelf?" Dark asked, getting the exact reaction he wanted when Anti turned a darker shade of red and started to glitch more. "I- uh... Looking for secret passages OBVIOUSLY!"
"Secret passages, hm?" Dark raises an eyebrow while continuing to make as much eye contact as he could, with Anti constantly avoiding his glance. "Do please tell me more about these... secret passages... you're looking for." Anti grumbles before slowly sitting up and crossing his legs, back turned to Dark. "W-well, you see... I heard that uh... I heard that there are... secret passages... secret passages in the walls of the mansion and I just wanted to explore the tunnels for- uh... for an advantage for when I attack the septic egos... is all."
"And you couldn't maybe choose to explore these tunnels at a time I'm NOT busy with paperwork?" Anti lets out an amused huff in response to Dark's half question. "What's wrong with me exploring your secret tunnel while your working?"
"You know I didn't mean it like that you dirty-minded roach."
"But It's funny..." They drag out the last word, and Dark stands back to his full height with a scoff. He starts walking back to his desk but pauses when Anti speaks back up. "Do you have The Lord Of The Flies in here?" Dark stays in place for a moment, deep in thought, his aura growing slightly at his inner turmoil of laughing at the glitch and asking them more about their novel choice... eventually, he turns around to face the demon on the floor.
Antis hunched in his direction, but Dark couldn't see his face since his head was looking down towards a book on the floor. They looked childish in a strange way. As immature and chaotic as he acted, Dark knew... well... heard that Anti has a calculative side to them. Whenever one of the septics mentioned it, they always seemed on edge, so Dark considered it wise not to underestimate the glitch, not to mention how they almost equal Dark's own power in a spontaneous one-on-one battle. He reels his auras back in before he speaks again.
"I might. Why are you interested? I thought you were looking for secret passages." Dark decides to humor him with that last part. There were obviously no secret passages... that he knew of. If there were any, surely Mark would have let him know for security reasons, right? "The doctor recommended it to me. Not that I actually like reading novels... He said that it would be good for me or whatever and that apparently, you and Host have the only copies of it in the house."
"I'm guessing that Host is currently using the library copy, then?" Anti nods his head, still not looking up from the book he's eyeing. Considering his options, Dark decides that his paperwork can wait for a bit and moves the chair next to Anti so that he can sit and talk to them. He leans over and rests his head on his hand, that's relying on his knee for support; this action makes his face closer to Anti, he's aware of that, and he can see Anti's eyes shift up from the book as he turns to finally make eye contact. "You don't wanna wait for it to finish reading it?" Anti shakes their head, and it wasn't until now that Dark notices how strange it is when they're quiet, considering under normal circumstances, they will bring both literal and figurative energy into any room they enter.
"You know how inpatient I can be." He mumbles to Dark. "That I do... Are you going to look after it if I give it to you?"
"What kind of fucking question is that? What am I? A seven-year-old?" That makes Dark let out a deep, masculine-sounding giggle, which makes Anti glitch with a light blush once again forming. "Sometimes it's hard to tell," Dark chuckles, "However, I only ask because I don't like it when my books get damaged."
"...I don't think anyone likes their books being damaged... sorry about the ones that fell." Dark has to take a serious moment to process that. Did Anti just apologize? Anti never apologizes for anything! And they're quieter than usual... did something happen between Dark walking away and Anti asking the question? "Don't worry about it. I'm sure this time was only a misfortune... are you feeling alright?" That question came out more hesitant than Dark would ever feel comfortable with; even with the relaxing atmosphere of the conversation, those words came out of his mouth tense and doubtful.
