"...In what way do you mean?"

"Just... In general, I suppose. You're not acting the way you usually do when I see you around."

"Oh... I don't know. I guess I'm fine..." A long pause was shared between the two demons, both caught up in their own thoughts and looking away from each other. Anti started to slowly move and pick up the fallen books, and after a few seconds, Dark joined them by picking up the books close to the chair. They both reached out and managed to grab the same book, only noticing when they both went to pull it towards them and realizing that the book was not moving. They weren't brushing fingers the same way teenagers do in those clique movies, but they were surprised by the coincidental closeness anyway despite the fact they were almost touching noses before.

But they've been close like that before when they have fought in the void. The two would yell insults and sneer at each other before it ever got physical, getting in each other's faces as some form of dominance tactic. The only time either of them could say they've come anywhere near touching hands was when they were preventing a knife or, in the worst cases, a gun from causing themselves injury. But even then, they never paid attention to the feeling of their auras mixing and pushing against each other. This interaction was just filled with weirdness, wasn't it?

Dark took the initiative to let go of the book so that Anti could add it to their momentary collection of books with an awkward smile. Eventually, they collected all the fallen books, and Anti gave their pile to Dark one by one as Dark organized them back onto the bookshelf. Once he was satisfied with the organization of his bookshelf, Dark reached down and pulled out the novel that Anti requested and turned to face the glitch. Dark looked down into his eyes since Anti was shorter than him, wearing anything but a pair of his Demonias (which Dark would never admit looked good on him) or any of their platform-heel boots. Still, Anti was wearing a pair of green sneakers, so they only managed to reach up to Dark's eyes.

"Here it is," Dark managed a small smile, which was uncommon for him, "Do you think you'll be able to finish it before next Friday?"

"What's the rush?" Anti narrowed his eyes, "Need it for something?"

"No, no. I just prefer to set a date that something needs to be returned to me. Most people end up keeping my belongings if I don't give them a time I want it back by."

"That makes sense... But- uh... I've never exactly read a book this long before..."

"It's only..." Dark opens the back of the book and checks the page number, "224 pages long. You know, a short read."

"Yeah- but- like... It's ALL writing. I'm not used to reading that type of thing..."

"What do you usually read? If at all..." Dark asks them, causing them to look away in a debate of actually answering or not. ".........ᵐᵃⁿᵍᵃ..." Anti mumbles. "What was that?"

"Don't make me repeat it..." They grumble quietly. "I couldn't hear what you said," He chuckles, "I won't let you have the book until you tell me." And on cue, Anti jumps for the book, though Dark was faster and lifted the book out of his reach, making Anti continue to try to snatch it off him. Dark expertly maneuvers the book so that Anti is unable to get their hands on it. Dark moves the books behind him, and Anti tries to lean past him to get it, coincidentally managing to trip Dark on the blanket and down onto the chair he forgot was there.

Apparently, avoiding one movie cliche automatically means that you have to experience another one. While Dark ended up sitting on the chair with his arm stretched out behind him, holding the book, Anti ended up almost kneeling in his lap in their attempt to grab the book off of Dark. Keyword being almost since they only really were leaning over him, hand on Dark's thigh and foreheads touching after smacking into each other, their faces both in a slight grimace at the slight pain.
