"Aale aale baby, keep quiet my Shona. Please don't cry my baby.", He pleaded with teary eyes to the new born baby in his hand. But the new born baby just wouldn't listen.

The baby kept crying while he rocked the tiny little baby in his huge arms. It was a preterm born infant which weighed only about 2.2 kgs. Today was his first day of parenting after she spent 4 and a half weeks in the hospital on incubator.

"What do you want sweetheart? I just fed you the formula milk. There is nothing in the diaper as well.", He asked in a remorseful state.

It would have been easier if the babies could speak as soon as they were born. They would have communicated what they wanted rather than whine for everything leaving the parents in jeopardy as to what they want.

Most parents only think that the babies cry for two reason - firstly when they are hungry and secondly when they dirty their diapers. But there is always more to it and when you learn the reason and try to solve it, the problem changes.

The infant continued crying and he was literally feeling like pulling all his hair out of frustration. No! Please don't be mistaken this as his frustration towards the baby. He was frustrated about his fate which had placed him in such a condition.

He was nothing but an helpless father unable to understand the needs of his little infant daughter, Aadhya. He named her after Goddess Shakti, the Goddess of Power, Energy and Courage. He named her to give the strength and the courage to deal with this cruel world as well as to remind himself to be strong and brave in every situation. Aadhya was already strong as she fought against all odds to make it into this world.

He dials a number on the phone.

Sidharth: Hello, You can hear that right? I got her home an hour back, fed her and I even checked her diaper. She doesn't seem to stop crying. Please help me. How do I make her quiet? How do I help her?

The person on the other end, spoke something.

Sidharth: No, I didn't. How do I do that?...Okay Okay, hold on I'll try.

He gently placed the baby's on his shoulder and rubbed her back for sometime. The baby burped and vomitted a little formula milk on his shoulder but was quiet now.

Sidharth: (into the phone) Phew!! That worked I guess. She is quiet now. But she threw up on my shoulder. Is that normal or should I take her to the doctor?.... (The person on the phone speaks) Okay. Fine. I will trouble you again if I need help. Thank you.

He placed the baby in the cradle and rocked it for sometime and went to change his clothes. He looked at the time, it was 6pm. He hadn't eaten anything since morning so he poured some cornflakes and milk into the bowl to quickly satisfy his famished body.

He had hardly taken two bites, when the baby started crying again. He left the food and ran to the cradle. He prepared a formula milk and tried pushing it into the baby's little mouth but she refused to take it. He then opened its diaper and saw it was soiled with poop. He went to take the new diaper and wipes leaving the crying baby and when he returned the poop was everywhere on the little bedsheet, underneath the baby little bum and on her feet.

"Oh God! I shouldn't have left the diaper open. Sorry sweetheart, I'll place the diaper and wipes nearby to to avoid such accidents in future.", He said as if the baby would understand. He pulled out the wipes and tried wiping the baby's bottom however the poop on baby's feet was now everywhere on his hand.

"Oh no!! Argghhh"

He pulled out the wet wipes and wiped his hands before wiping her legs and then the bottoms. He picked her up in one hand to remove the bedsheet in the other. While he did so, she passed urine on him rendering him wet.

"Argghhhh, baby you could have done this in the diaper when you pooped right? Why on me?"

He kept her on the bed and wiped her again before removing her wet clothes with great difficulty and putting on a diaper. He than grabbed a fresh pair of clothes and took another 15 to 20 minutes to dress her up. All this while the baby was still crying.

He put a new bedsheet in cradle and rocked her however the baby didn't stop crying.

"What do you want now?", he asked irritated.

"Okay, let me clear this mess first. I smell pop myself.", He rocked the cradle one more time before he ran to clear the mess and change his clothes again. The baby kept crying until finally he returned back and tried pushing the bottle into her mouth with no success.

"Arggghhhh.. its just around 3 hours that you are here and I am already going mad. Why do you cry so much dear?", He said annoyed.

He dialled the last dialled number.

"Sorry, I had to trouble you again. She is crying again non-stop. I changed her nappy and put on new clothes as well.... No, she isn't taking the feeding... No, the weather isn't hot here... No... Okay, Okay!"

He immediately increased the heater's temperature with the remote.

Sidharth: Thank you, I'll call you after sometime if this doesn't work.

He disconnected the phone and rocked the baby in his arm. The infant slept peacefully after sometime.

Oh my poor child! She was feeling cold and all I thought was that she was hungry.

He placed the little baby in the cradle and messaged back to the number.

It worked! Thanks a ton!

He went to the kitchen where he had left the breakfast cereal bowl. He looked at the bowl. It was all soggy and had turned into paste. Nevertheless, he gulped it down his throat and put the bowl in the sink and went to rest after the physical, mental and emotional exhaustion.

He walked to the bed slowly and fell flat on his tummy and immediately shut his eyes to fall asleep.
