E.6. Hunger for Food Vs Love

While Sidharth goes out, Sana gives an oil massage to Aadhya and bathes her. She dresses her up like a beautiful doll post which Aadhya asks her for the feed and Sana obliges and feeds her breast milk sumptuously. When Aadhya falls asleep, Sana cleans up the entire house.

Sidharth returns home late in the afternoon and looks at the home which appeared very spick and span.

"How was your day?", Asks Sana giving him a glass of water as he looked tired.

"It was good.", Says Sidharth.

"You look very exhausted. Did you eat something outside? Or should I make something for you?", Asks Sana.

"No no, I am good.", He says.

Flashback:

It had been a year since his mother's death. Little Sidharth returned from his school to find the dhaaba all demolished as it was built illegally on that land. He cried uncontrollably and went to his old house to find his father. He finds someone else staying there as it was rented out by its owner. He wonders around everywhere having no place to stay. He finally spots his father at liquor store.

"Baapu.. ", cries little Sidharth.

"What the hell are you doing here? Don't you have work today? If you roam around like this, I will not get you your mother back.", Warns his father.

"No.. Baapu, the dhaaba is broken. I will do anything to see Maa. Please Baapu.", Cries Sidharth.

"Fine, I'll take you somewhere else, you have to work over there.", His father instructs.

He asks the liquor store owner to employ Sidharth and the owner agrees. Amidst all the drunkards abusing, swearing and acting weirdly, little Sidharth would now work as a waiter who serves drinks to them. He would have to clean the place after hours.

His hands or legs would often injure due to broken glass pieces. However, his father would care less. Sidharth got to see his father drinking like fish every evening against the wages Sidharth earned. He would sleep for 4-5 hours.

However, the biggest problem was with food. While in dhabha, he would get the leftovers to eat but now he would get nothing. Owing to hunger, he would often steal food from other student's tiffin boxes in the government school while no one was watching. He would often eat one or two bites from 4-5 tiffin boxes. While rest of the day, he would stay hungry. Sunday's was the day he wouldn't get to eat anything as it was a school holiday.

Since then to remind him of his hard times, he doesn't eat on Sundays and instead feeds the orphans on road every Sunday.

Flashback ends.

He looks at Sana who looked equally tired and exhausted.

"Sana, did you do all this work?", He asks.

"Hmmm.. yes, since Aadhya slept well, I did some work.", She says.

"Sana, I pay you only for looking after Aadhya, you need not do all this. I will do this. All this while, I couldn't do it as I kept occupied with her.", He says feeling embarrassed.

"I am doing Aadhya's work itself. Hygienic house means healthy baby else she will fall sick staying in unhygienic place.", Sana gives logical reply to him so that he doesn't stop her doing these work in future.

He pressed his lip thin and nodded to her to agree.

"Did you eat something? You look so tired.", He asks.
