E.16. Probing Questions

It had been quite a few days after the incident. Without confession of love, it was easier to hide. Now after having confessed his feelings, it had created chaos in their mind and heart but at the same time there was a grave silence between them. They spoke minimally, avoided eye contacts and spoke only related to Aadhya when required.

She was a mystery to him and his curiosity to know about her grew stronger everyday.

"Bunty, for how long are you going to keep things inside and sulk? Why can't you just talk to her and clear your doubts?", Said Chandini over the phone.

"What do I ask her, Moon? I have no rights to ask her anything about her personal life.", Said Sidharth

"She isn't some stranger Sidharth. She is your Annapurna, the one who stayed hungry to feed you. You love her, she can't just deny stating that she is married. She has been staying with you for the past 6 months, have you ever seen her husband? Where is her husband then? I think she is lying just like some girls fake that they have a boyfriend to escape from boys who propose.", Said Chandini.

"I don't believe that she is lying Moon. Her eyes don't lie. Besides she is lactating which proves that she had a miscarriage and if she had a baby then she would have a husband too.", Said Sidharth.

"Babies have nothing to do with marriage, Bunty. Babies can be born without wedlock. Wait a minute, I think I know the reason. Perhaps she an unwanted baby which she miscarried and probably she lied of marriage because she didn't want you to think ill about her character.", states Chandini.

"Huh? Why would I judge her character on that basis? For me she is as pure as a goddess. I won't ever think of maligning her character.", He declares.

"Awww.. Bunty! Why are you so sweet? If you say yes then I can kill my husband to marry you.", Joked Chandini.

"Shut up Moon!", Sidharth chuckled.

"Hmm.. I never said you will judge her Sidharth. I just said may be she thinks you will judge her character. Speak to her.", Chandini suggests.

"I am afraid that I will lose her, Moon. I am scared that she will leave me and Aadhya if I start questioning her.", Said Sidharth emotionally.

"Bunty.. calm down! Do one thing, just try casually asking her about her family and their whereabouts. But speak Bunty else you will end up in depression like this.", Chandini insists.

"Hmmm.. ", hums Sidharth and bids bye to her before disconnecting the call.

"Aadu.. chweetheart say aaaa..", said Sana trying to feed Aadhya the baby food that she prepared for Aadhya. Sidharth walks into the hall and glances at her.

"Say aaaa.. please", requests Sana to Aadhya. Sidharth contemplated on how to start the conversation as they were not talking much after his confession. He looks at the bowl and finds something else than the regular pureed vegetable. He takes it as an opportunity to start the conversation.

"What is that in the bowl, Sana?", Asked Sidharth sitting on a chair near them.

"Huh? It's finger millet porridge. It has high nutritional value and will promote her digestion. It's high on calcium and iron which will help her develop strong bones and overall health as well.", Stated Sana.

"Wow! That's not just awesome but also wholesome. Where did you learn this from? Your mother-in-law?", He asked.

She stared at him in blankly for sudden question. He tried reading her facial expressions.

"No.. from my mother.", She nodded and muttered in a low voice.

"Oh! You never told me about your mother. Where is she?", He asked playing with Aadhya's little hand to sound casual unknown that it had triggered her pain.
