Dorcas managed to survive Lily's wrath of anger and all five of us were still alive when a prefect came around to say we were 2 hours from arriving and to get our robes on soon.

That was when a knot started to form in the pit of my stomach. I don't know why I am so nervous. It's only school. There's nothing to be scared of. I have friends, I've found people that understand me and my life, and I've even managed to really enjoy myself. Something that hasn't truly happened for a while. Not since... well...

"Eb? What are you thinking about?" Lily ties her Gryffindor tie under her collar.

I turn from the window to see the girls looking at me.

"Oh. Er. Nothing."

"Are you worried about the sorting?" Alice asks, sympathetically.

"Um... a bit."

Ok, yes a little more than a bit. That is one of my main worries at the moment.

Slytherin? No. I don't want to be in there. Cunning, ambition, leadership yeah those values are decent, it's just some of the others... you know... I just don't think I can do that. Not after the Blacks and what happened at Uagadou...

Hufflepuff? Maybe. I could deal with that. Ravenclaw? Again similar story.

But I'm growing more and more fond of Gryffindor. With the girls - and Sirius and his friends - all in there... it seems like it could be the best place for me.

"None of the houses are bad." Lily says. "I know plenty of great Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws."

"And some of the slytherins are decent too." Dorcas adds.

"And you know that the Gryffindors are all brilliant." Marlene grins.

"Seriously Ebony, I was convinced I should be in Ravenclaw for ages because my Dad was in there. It doesn't really matter about family or anything else. The Hat makes the right decision for you." Alice reassures me.

"Yeah. We should still keep in touch, whatever happens."

"Of course!" The girls say.

"No matter where you go, you're part of the group now!" Marlene smiles.

"Yeah you seem to actually have some sense compared to some of us here." Lily winks, nodding slightly at Marlene and Dorcas.

"I am more sensible that you think! I mean compare me to the boys, they're downright insane at times. I'm better than them." Marlene says.

"Yeah but it isn't that hard to be more sensible than those idiots." Alice teases.

"Wait, look!" Lily says, pointing out the window. "I fairly sure we're close, there's the lake!"

"Where?" Marlene looks.

"Just behind that mountain you can see the reflection of light! Ebony you need to see."

She points and just as she said, I see a slight glint of silver in the distance reflecting the setting sun.

"We're almost there!"

The noise from other carriages begins to grow as we get told we're 10 minutes from arriving.

The knot in my stomach tightens.

I pull out my necklace from behind my shirt, and hold the silver feather charm.

Then, we see a cluster of lights ahead, what I assume is the village of Hogsmeade, with the station that we will pull into.

"You got everything, Ebony?" Alice asks, placing her book in a bag.
