Ascending Blurb:
A holiday in New York is all that my parents believed I needed, I wasn't a delinquent. No, the delinquents were at the school I left behind when returning to said school after two years of said holiday in New York.
His name...Theo Henderson. Well-built delinquent of six foot five.
His associates include Leo Scott, Sawyer Samual and Ryan Ford. And it was exactly two years ago when just one high school party changed the people I thought I knew. Cheryl Reed was one of my closest friends, before I left at least. When she started dating Sawyer, the change in her was prominent, she didn't care for make-up before. She didn't like short skirts. Showing her cleavage. And yet, here she was now. Ryan Ford was the next male to ruin the group I had as friends. Lillian Dane, his off and on again girlfriend. Lastly was Collette Simmons, Leo Scott collected her quite quickly.
Next was just me.
Only I wasn't that kind of target for Theo.
No...not until I left did I see how he truly felt after what he'd done to me. Heartbroken.
CHAPTER 1:
They didn't require a uniform, and that is what got me quite confused. It had only been two years, they use to be so strict with it and now, as I roam down the halls in jeans and a simple sweater, there was no checkered skirt, no high white knee socks, no black leather shoes, no blazer and most of all, no tie. So, of course—I was surprised. The place seemed dulled. Black and white for every student but them. They were colourful, standing by their lockers, all the girls on their phones. Theo was the tallest, the most well-known for his intense silver grey eyes, but his stance had changed from cocky and overconfident, to much like a man who doesn't want to come to school anymore. It's Sawyer who talks to him in a matter of hushed tones, broad hand gestures with tattoos on his fingers, silver rings too.
Cheryl wore a low cut shirt and a denim skirt, black nail polish and black eye shadow. Popping gum from her lips, she was scrolling through Instagram as I step silently through the crowd of students beginning to move through and open my own locker, which was closest to the exits, thank god. Some stain blue lockers had graffiti all over them, mine thankfully didn't.
I only had a few mere text books in it and a mirror on the door. I close it when I hear sniggering, "Oh, look who it is?" I hear down the hallway, only it wasn't directed to me. Head quarterback, Ace Swanson and next to him, captain of the football team, Xavier Sven steps down the hallway, scoffing at the sight of Theo.
Cheerleaders even stood beside them.
I never knew Ace to be such the open, confident person until I see Sawyer, tan and tall too, clench his fists at his sides. I raise an eyebrow as Xavier gives him a smirk, "Don't waste your breath, Samual. The next time you land a punch means you're expelled for good." He says to him, rolling the football through his large hands as Cheryl glares at one of the cheerleaders.
"Why don't you idiots go piss off people your own size? It's obvious you're all looked down here." Collette spits at them, about to step forward, only it's Leo that slides an arm around her waist and pulls her back against his leather jacket, he'd brown some muscle too after the past two years. Collette wasn't as bright of a blonde as I was anymore, she was darker, with red highlights. Still five foot three with pale blue eyes that looked as though they had been sucked through hell. Cheryl jus looked readily aggressive as the cheerleaders I didn't recognise surrounding Xavier, and Ace moved with a few other footballers I didn't recognise.
I slide out my Art history textbook first as they slide past, not recognising me. In fact no one was really curious at all, I could act so closely to the way everyone else is, because the kind of rival I just saw looked about as attention-seeking and crowd-making this place could get. I stepped towards the stairs, remembering where most of my classes already were, when I heard Theo trying to tell Sawyer to calm down.
