Waiting a millennium is never enough...

CHAPTER 1

I sip my glass of rose-gold champagne, grinning at Lucinda, my sister-one of them at least. I had three older brothers and two older sisters. Both my parents were by the legendary table, discussing our accomplishments with governmental board members. It's been almost three years, her mission was far longer than mine. It only took me a year to take down the Kingston gang, and by take it down, I mean demolish it from the inside out. All girls used as entertainers were given new lives, the opportunity to start fresh. These two years I had minuscule jobs after the big one. The gang had over a thousand individuals, and even more suppliers, a chain I eradicated from the inside out.

A hand slides around my waist, my boyfriend stands tall at six foot three, "Care for a dance?" He asks me, smirking, his blonde head shining under the light of the ball room as I lower my glass down and roll my eyes as he chuckles and spins me around.

I stare at him incredulously, he dips me and lowers his lips against mine. I wrap my arms around him, nuzzling into him as he pulls me back up. Adrian Coulson, the man I am meant to marry, straight after my mission, as an arrangement between his status as head governmental leader in Canada, strictly in Vancouver, and my family's name here. He pulls me back up, twirling me with a soft smile, I slide my fingers back on his shoulder, "You're in a good mood?" I wonder, wiggling my eyebrows at him.

He stares at me, before nodding to the musicians, all music stops and dancers step away, just as Adrian lowers down to a knee on front of me. My eyes widen in shock, my red dress sparkling under the light, low neckline and parts at the thighs, "Evangeline Celeste, will you marry me?"

I stare at him, as if seeing blue eyes, just imagining it to his brown ones, the crowd gasps and I thought it was for Adrian and I, before a bullet is shot through his skull in front of me. Blood splatters and everything in me pauses from the suddenness of it. I scream in shock, "ADRIAN!" My scream fell on deaf ears because there were gunshots everywhere. I watched Dad cover Mom instantly, my brothers pulling their wives towards the exits, gunning down anyone in their way. I reach down for Adrian, tears blurring my eyes at the footfalls of agents needing to fall back. Lucinda and Elizabeth tried running for me, but I was too frozen on the floor. Staring at Adrian.

"EVANGELINE! WATCH OUT!" A yell from Elizabeth echoes, I snap my eyes up, five men in gas masks were throwing gas bombs across the floor, even towards me. I grab the ring, staring at Adrian once more, before running straight past the tables, hearing footfalls behind me, I head straight for the main control room. The man following me in the middle handed his sniper towards the one next to him, the middle one shot Adrian...oh, god.

Adrian.

"GET DOWN!" An Agent says beyond me, five of them rip out the second three masked males clobbered straight for me. A bomb thrown to my right and the explosion throws me straight against the wall. Slamming me up and dropping me down against the floor. Ringing is all that I could hear against the pain fringing against my back. Bloodied body parts of the agents that were ahead of me is all I could see. My diamond decorations in my hair rolls along the dirtied floor. I'm moved, pulled up by the neck as the man holding me grips me tightly. Before the two males behind him move their masks. Evander and Grayson.

Their faces blurred in front of me, the one holding me removes his mask, "Hello, darling."

Ace Carter.

NO!

NO!

Chloroform is immediately slammed over my nose and lips, before the world turns black.
