"I think we should stay in bed all day," Yumeko nodded as she reached backward to set her bowl, empty save for the little bit of milk, on the nightstand. She traded sitting to lying down on the opposite way of the bed.

"Oh?" Mary swirled the spoon in her cereal. The metal spoon clinking against the bowl. "That's a tempting idea."

"When's the last time we did that? Just slept in forever, and ate Lucky Charms, and started a show together," Yumeko slithered to Mary's side of the bed. Her head rested right where fuzzy cat socks crossed.

Mary spooned some of her cereal. After she swallowed, she commented, "It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure there's a reason for that though."

Yumeko groaned, "Ugh, I know, but I finished my assignments for now."

Mary searched red eyes for a lie, but they both knew how impossible that is. Finally, she sighed, and Yumeko knew she'd gotten her way: "You're lucky I love you."

Yumeko's heart felt wrapped up in the blanket she was laying on. "You're the best."

"I know," Mary insisted with a coy smile.

Yumeko rose from laying down. Mary was already turning on the TV when she settled into the pillows right beside her. The blonde chuckled, and Yumeko looked over to her curiously.

"What?" she asked jokingly.

"When people say they want breakfast in bed, this isn't usually what they imagine," Mary smiled, looking down at Yumeko.

"You're right," but that was true about a lot of things in their relationship.

They play cat and mouse better than Tom and Jerry. Yumeko knew she was the textbook definition of insane, while Mary was the most logical person she knew. They were night and day... But even they rise and fall in the same sky and—commonly—at the same time.

They didn't have to be sappy all the time if it meant that when it did happen it would feel like this. Like a dream. Tinted orange. Sun shining through the blinds and bouncing off the white sheets. Like if Yumeko were to look away from Mary and the hoodie stolen from her closet would all disappear, and she'd wake up lonely and hungry for a sugary breakfast.

"You're staring," Mary winked.

"I know."

Thank the slumber gods that Mary is real.

Yumeko attached herself to the other's waist: "I think I'm just gonna fall asleep here."

"I'm not mad at that," Mary's hands smoothed Yumeko's long hair out.

Mary shifted her torso and porcelain thumped the wood of her nightstand. She wiggled to level with Yumeko.

"You're so pretty," she brushed blonde bangs out of her forehead.

Mary opened and closed her mouth to say something and finally settled on a teasing, "No, you."

Yumeko rolled her eyes, "You suck."

"You suck more."

Their lips connected for one sweet moment, and when they pulled away Yumeko kept her eyes closed.

"Going back to sleep?" Mary pulled Yumeko closer.

"It's number two on the list."

"Ah," a peck was placed on under her eye. "Then I guess I'll join you."
