The door lazily closed behind Mary, alerting Yumeko in the living room. Slow footsteps travelled from the front door right to the couch. Mary flopped onto the open seats beside Yumeko on the couch, blonde hair spilled on to her lap.

"Someone had a tiring day," Yumeko brushed Mary's bangs out of her face.

"Tell me about it," Mary groaned, rolling her eyes.

"You wanna talk about it?" Mary shook her head.

"No, I just want to pass out."

"I can sit still if you want," Yumeko settled into the seat to prepare.

"Nah, I want to go to bed," Mary raised herself and leaned right back into Yumeko's shoulder. "But I'm too tired to get up."

"Aww, I'm sorry your day treated you unkindly," Yumeko placed a kiss on the side of Mary's head.

"It's alright, at least it's over now," Mary sighed.

"Right," Yumeko nodded, running her fingers through Mary's hair. The strands fell loosely between her fingers like a waterfall of silk.

"Ugh, I want to be in bed."

"Then go to bed. You finished all your assignments, right?"

"Yeah, but I don't wanna get up again." A thought popped into Yumeko's head, and she giggled much to Mary's annoyance: "Don't laugh at me. I was so tired I could barely walk."

"No, no, I'm not laughing at you. I just thought if you're so tired, you should let me carry you to bed," Yumeko did a horrible job containing her smile.

"Oh my gosh." Mary was too deflated to protest, "There's no way you can carry me."

"Can I try?" Yumeko sang.

Mary took a few beats to find reasons why she should say no and sighed when she couldn't: "If you drop me, I'm actually going to be furious."

Yumeko clapped as she got out of the seat and faced Mary. She pondered the easiest way to accomplish this. Well maybe not easiest, but the cheesiest way.

"Hear me out," Yumeko slid an arm around Mary's back and the other under her knee. As she picked her up, the blush on the blonde's face grew more evident. Mary's arms wrapped around Yumeko's neck, and their faces lost distance to the other. "Perfect, as long as you hold onto me, I won't drop you," Yumeko reassured her.

Mary's eyes struggled to stay awake, and her head fell into the crook of Yumeko's neck. "Good," she yawned. "You better not."

Yumeko felt her happiness bubble in her chest, and she carefully walked to their bedroom. Mary's fuzzy sweater tickled her neck, and she wondered if she noticed how fast Yumeko's heart was beating in her chest.

In less than twenty steps, Mary completely molded to Yumeko's torso, and they were at their bedside.

Yumeko carefully set Mary down, and she immediately whined, "Don't leave."

Yumeko giggled, "Aww, just for you." She crawled over Mary and fell beside her.

Mary magnetized her arms around Yumeko and sighed: "Thank you."

"We should do that every day," Yumeko joked, her voice vibrating through the pillows.

"Maybe," Mary took a few beats of breath for relaxation. Then out of the blue, she said, "I love you." Her voice was groggy yet sincere.

And Yumeko could've dropped dead. She could not believe how adorable Mary could be when she let herself. It was kind of cute how she was too tired to pretend to be cold and stoic.

"I love you too," and they shared a cozy kiss.
