Destiny sighed in annoyance as her phone rang off the hook, as usual. She needed it on as she was waiting for a text from Alexis regarding a college assignment that was due in, meaning that shutting it off, like she preferred to do, wasn't an option.
Ever since Katy had announced to the world two years ago that Destiny was secretly her daughter, she hadn't had a single moment of peace. This was enhanced by the fact that in her first interview, Destiny had accidentally let it slip that she didn't know who her farther was...
"Destiny, baby? I need to talk to you about something," Katy called her daughter. She could barely believe that her little kitten was now sixteen years old! It was at this time, that Katy had promised herself that she would do something very important.
"Yeah, Katy?" Destiny asked sweetly, entering the room. Katy held back a sigh at her daughters insistence of using her name. Destiny had explained why to her a long time ago, but that didn't mean that it hurt any less.
Destiny felt that her mum was still a cruel woman who hurt her. The word itself held too much pain for Destiny to ever say it with love. That was why she called Katy by her name. The word 'Katy' was now surrounded by love and protection, what a mother should be. 'Katy' was, and always would be, Destiny's equivilant of saying 'Mum'.
"Destiny, I need to talk to you about something..." Katy began. Destiny felt the familiar feeling of anxiety rising, at the uncertainty of the situation. She quickly buried these feelings, her trust for Katy winning over.
"Sure thing, what's up?" She asked, slipping into a slight American slag - much to Katy's glee.
"Well, I think it's time. I know you're ready now, and I believe you can handle this." Katy said, putting a proud hand on her daughters shoulder.
"What?" Destiny asked with a laugh. "I have no idea what you're talking about!"
"I want to tell the world about you, Destiny. I want the world to know that you're my daughter," Katy explained.
"Wait...WHAT?" Destiny cried in horror. "No way! We can't do that!"
"Why not, little kitten?" Katy asked, worried by Destiny's reaction. "You're sixteen now and people have been asking who you are for years! It's amazing you've gone this far with such a relatively normal life. I think it's only because we signed a contract for it to be illegal for paparazzi to bother you until you were old enough to handle it - in other words, sixteen -that you haven't been harassed already. Now you're sixteen, all that's going to change anyway. Why not just tell everybody the truth?"
"B-because I'm not ready, because it will make my life so much harder, because I'll never be left alone again, because...what if your fans hate me..." Destiny cried, her words tumbling out. Katy's face softened and she swiftly pulled her daughter into a hug.
"That's what you're worried about? Oh, baby, they already love you! They see you with me all the time, we're practically joined at the hip!" Katy pointed out with a laugh. "Hey, look at me." She said and lifted up Destiny's chin she they could make eye contact. "I love you, and if they're really my fans they will too. Not that it even matters what anyone else thinks, even my fans... Got it?" Destiny managed to crack a small smile and she entwined her fingers with Katy's
"Got it," she confirmed.
"Alrighty then," Katy grinned. "Now let's get started on an Official Tweet to post!" Destiny nodded and they both crowded around Katy's laptop.
It took them the rest of the afternoon to write it, but soon it was done:
Hey, KatyCats! I have some VERY big (but extremely good) news for you all. So *deep breath* I would finally like to reveal to you all the real identity of Destiny Baker, the girl who's been living with me for the past year. Exciting stuff, I know! ;) Well, she's actually my daughter. I'm telling you this because it is her sixteenth birthday today and I finally think that she's ready to be properly introduced to you all. So send her lots of love because I love her to pieces and she really does deserve it. She was also SUPER worried about telling you guys in case she isn't good enough for you (stupid, I know!!! P.S. never tell her I told you that, it's a secret :O). You guys can all follow her on Instagram @DestinyHBaker. Love you all LOADS, STAY AMAZING!!! Xxxxx
Soon Katy and Destiny's phones were beeping non-stop. Katy laughed at Destiny's worried face before opening up some of the replied.
@KatyCat101: OH. MY. GOD!!! DID I CALL THAT OR WHAT!?!

@TheEllenShow: I must insist on having you on my show ASAP and being the first person to interview u girlies!!! Ok? Good! All the best :P
Katy laughed when she saw Ellen's Tweet and quickly clicked the reply button. She liked Ellen and thought that she would be the perfect first person to interview them.
"What do you say, baby? You want to meet Ellen?" She asked Destiny with a grin.
"I've met Ellen when you've done interviews before!" She laughed, playfully pushing Katy. "But sure, why not? I'll have to meet your adoring public sooner or later."
"That's the spirit," Katy laughed and quickly replied to Ellen. Way too soon, everything was booked and Destiny found herself signed up to her very first interview.
Now Destiny shuddered at the memory. It wasn't that Ellen hadn't been nice, she had been amazingly kind to Destiny, it was that Destiny hadn't really known what to say in an interview. So what Ellen had causally asked who Destiny's father was, Destiny had admitted that she had no idea and that Katy was refusing to tell her. This had upset Katy no end. Destiny now couldn't mention her father at all because of that situation and they were both still rather bitter about the whole ordeal. It had been their first real fight since Destiny had moved in with Katy.
As Destiny had admitted that any man she met could potentially be her father, and Katy wasn't confirming or denying anything, man after man now called Destiny up claiming to be her father. The first time this had happened, Destiny had really believed that it was him and had cried for days when it wasn't. Katy had banned her from answering unknown numbers ever since! It was a rule Destiny was happy to stick to.
She stared at her phone in agony, silently begging Alexis to phone so that the nightmare-ish ringing would stop. She had no such luck. Destiny sighed frustratedly under her breath.
"If Katy would just tell me who my dad is this wouldn't be happening!" She thought and scowled. She knew Katy would never tell her though. Although no one seemed to know why!
