You had given Magnus a price limit on gifts. He tended to go over the top and you could never compete. He had agreed though he had also seemed rather smug about something which made you think that he didn't intend to stick to the price limit.

He invited you to his apartment to swap gifts. So you went along with your small gift, carefully wrapped in a nice box and pretty ribbon that you thought would amuse Magnus. It changed colours depending on how you held it. He liked when Mundanes made things that he could make with magic. He had several cushions that could do the same thing with sequins.

Magnus ushered you in and whipped a purple velvet blanket off a large archway. "Seeing as you limited me on the price I had to come up with a new idea. This portal will take you anywhere you like to go, safely. Real or fictional." Magnus said cheerfully.

"The price limit was 20 dollars!" You said as you looked down at your gift.

"Yes! I only spent fifteen. Forty five if you count the wine... I needed something to keep me going." He confessed. You stared at the portal.

"My gift isn't as impressive." You muttered apologetically. Magnus smiled and sntached the gift up. He carefully pulled the ribbon off, admiring it and then stuffing it in his pocket. He set the box down carefully and lifted the lid off. "It's wonderful! Thank you. A scarf that changes colour with the light. What will Mundanes do next?" He said almost gleefully as he immediately put the scarf on and stowed the box away on one of his book filled shelves.
