"Can you help me with this dress?" I asked softly. My words seemed to impress him, because he looked at me shocked. Was I not clear?
"You want me to h-help you? Like to get out of it?"
"That's what I mean, I want to get out of it" I was maybe actin...
I woke up feeling like shit, I hadn't even drunk that much and I was so dizzy. Last night when I got home it was almost four in the morning. My dad didn't ask questions. That's him after all.
On my way to school Seb kept asking questions which I tried to avoid as much as I could. I wasn't very clear on much last night, even though I didn't drink much I felt like shit the entire night.
"Hey Alex, are you busy today?" Olivia took her pen and started to write something. Then she continued. "Look, this is my address. You should come."
How can I say no without sounding rude? Almost like she read my mind she said, "I promise just the two of us this time." Maybe I should get more friends, and she looks like a nice person.
"Okay. I'll go after I pass by my house."
"Sure! Can't wait." With that said the bell rang and everyone left for lunch break -me included.
Walking on my way to the cafeteria -with the hallways empty- I cross my path by Zack.
"Hey Alex." I smiled at him. "Last night was fun."
"Uhm yeah."
He laughed and continued. "You are cool, I guess that's why Olivia likes you."
"Yeah Olivia... are you friends?" He nodded. "And Nathan, are they like dating?" I know it sounds desperate, but I promise it's just curiosity.
"No, no. They're best friends, I promise nothing more." Ah shit. Now he thinks I'm into Nate because I was asking about his love life.
We stood there in silence for a while, until Zack decided to break this awkward moment.
"Anyways I hope I see you soon at a party."
"Bye." He turned around and went the opposite direction from mine.
At lunch I sat with Olivia and three of her friends, Taylor, a cool red haired girl, Sam, this dorky kinda cute blonde boy -who is obviously in love with Olivia- and Alice, this rebellious girl with black clothes and black makeup. I liked her the most.
I could tell how social Olivia is, I mean she has a variety of friends. Being the best friend of the captain of the football team does have it's benefits. But instead she hangs around with me.
After school I did what I told Olivia, went quickly to my house, changed, studied a bit and then headed to her house.
Wow. Her house was enormous, huge! I've been standing ten minutes outside of her house, cause honestly I was nervous. I like her, and I don't want her to not like me.
I pull myself together and knock on the giant black door. A small brunette girl with freckles was standing in front of me. Olivia's sister? Probably.
"Hi I'm A-"
"Alex! You came. Come in." Olivia appeared behind her sister with a bowl in her hands. "I'm making cookies, come help me." With that said I came in and followed her into the kitchen.
"Hey, sorry it took me a while. I was studying."
"No problem. Wanna help?" She handed me a spatula and some chocolate chips.
"Sure."
"Okay great. I just need to decorate them and place them in the oven."
After we finished them and left the cookies on the oven Olivia took me to her room.
"Was the little girl your sister?"
"Oh Jenny. Yes." She took her shoes off and dropped dead on the bed. "She is kinda annoying."
"She looks nice." She just smiled. "How old is she?"
"Eight." I took my jacket off. "Hey, sit here. Don't stand." Olivia laughed, "I took my shoes off and sat in the bed next to her."
I took a sip of the lemonade Olivia gave before and she continued.
"Have you liked Lawernceville? Or not?"
"It 's different. But I guess it's good."
"Well it's only been two weeks, I'll make you have a better time. I promise."
"Thank you."
"Hey no problem. We are friends."
I just nodded and took another sip. Curiosity got the best of me -again- and I asked her. "I noticed Nathan didn't come."
"He does that after drinking too much."
"You seem to know a lot about him."
"Well that dork and I have been best friends since the beginning. Our mom's were best friends, but they don't talk much nowadays."
"Ah okay."
"Don't worry, me and Nate are just friends." She smiled at me and then we changed the subject. Looks like everyone is trying to reassure me he is single and Olivia and him are just friends.
"Thank you for coming. I had a lot of fun."
I looked at her before walking out of the door. "Me too. Thanks For inviting me."
Heading over to my dad's car -who I asked nicely to come for me- and I kept thinking about him. Why can't I stop thinking about him? I admit he is hot. A lot. But why, why, why! I want to get Nathan out of my head. I can't even explain what draws me to him.
"Everything okay?"
"Yes dad."
I lied. Because I don't know why or when my life started to be so complicated and weird.
