[Before we start, just something to tell you if you won't notice: if the place has diamonds (◆) and then a few phrases written in italics, it's just a little piece of Emilia's words. She won't be narrating for a while, like I said, so that's all you're getting for a chapter for now, until I bring her back. If it's split with dots (. . .), it's just splitting the chapter by time. Enjoy! :>]
I half-expected hallelujah to start playing from the pedestal.
The purple mist almost choked me to death, as it coiled around my neck like an affectionate but aggressive snake.
I gripped the mist, but it only disappeared.
As soon as I let go of my neck, it returned back with a tug.
I wonder if Emilia is doing things to cause her to almost die. I hope not.
But then of course, the crazy things that have happened since that day, I couldn't be sure anymore.
By now, I may or may not have been flinging my arms and screaming. I stumbled over, black spots dancing in my eyes. The dark got to me...the color of dawn. Light purples mixed with the black.
But I refuse to give up now.
I managed to stand again with great difficulty, and almost fainted in attempt.
No, I had to get out of this time period as soon as possible.
I wasn't safe here.
The purple fog swirled around the staff like it was their master. The tip glowed in a brighter but similar color to the mist.
I reached out, and my fingers curled around the cool wood of the staff.
Suddenly, I could breathe again.
I gasped for air, not letting go of the staff. When I caught my breath once again, I studied the staff in my hand.
It was brown, but the tip was purple. It looked like any old stick, but if you look closer, you'll see there are engravings of...actually, I don't know. But they look cool.
I wonder how to get back into the Tunnel of Light. I got the key, apparently, that tried to choke me, and a statue protecting it trying to slay me with a stone sword heavy as hell.
I glanced around. The colors of dawn engulfing me in wonder.
Blue. Purple. Black. Slowly fading to night.
The moon was visible, just half of it. Enough to shower moonlight on the little, unmoved huts.
Some of the hut's tops had holes in it, no doubt from the purple mist or from evil elephant-sized Cira.
I stared into the horizon.
No more soldiers stood on the battlefield.
No screams, no cries.
No violence.
Just silence. Deadly silence.
I sat down on the stone covered ground, exhausted from today's events.
The quiet sunset reminded me of Emilia.
No, I can't think about her. It's painful, as if a part of me has been broken off and stomped on to a million pieces.
She's gone, or she's beyond my reach. I can't see her, maybe never again.
So it was my responsibility to finish the mission she had once told me not to follow her on.
I wasn't enjoying the silence anymore.
"See, Emilia? See? Where have you gotten? Where have you left me?" I whispered into the stars.
