"Ouch," I hissed while touching at my eye. It hurt badly and I didn't know how I was suppose to go into work like this. Glancing down at my phone I noticed the date and rolled my only working eye. I began lightly patting concealer around the black eye and just hope nobody said anything if they did happen to notice. Something I didn't feel like explaining or living through again. I barely even got sleep last night, sitting up worried they'd try to come do something to me again. Walking out I noticed that housekeeping was cleaning out their room, I guess they did get gone. At least I hoped. I headed off to Denny's, clocking in and being greeted by the few co- workers I had met yesterday.
"Good morning," I smiled at everyone before going to clock in. The crowd began rolling in and I made my way around to each table I was assigned, going to get the customers food I was called. "Ma'am?" I lifted my head and met those dusky, grey eyes. My heart pounded and my eyes felt with tears. My throat burned as I fought for oxygen, a wicked grin crossed his lips making me feel nauseous. Dropping my pad I rushed off to a bathroom, emptying the contents in my stomach. Panting and flushing the toilet, "Are you alright miss?" A lady knocked softly on the stall door.
"Um, yes, yes. Thank you," I cleared my throat.
Why was he even here? How did he find me? What the fuck? Was I going to have to pack up and leave again? After I just got comfortable? What if he kilt me next? I sobbed in my arms, why was this happening to me? The door pushed open and I turned to meet him. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" I screamed out with tears streaming down my face.
"Why so upset, love?" He chuckled and lowered down to me. "You much too beautiful to be crying like this, what's got you upset?" He stroked the side of my face. I gasped and swatted his hand away.
"Leave me alone! I swear I'll call the cops," I brought my knees up to my chest, backing away into the corner of the stall away from him.
"The cops? Whoa, no need for that. I just was in the city and wanted to see how you were, since it's been so long since we've hung together."
I scoffed and shook my head,"Hang together? Lance, that's the last thing I want to do. Shouldn't you be in prison?" I squinted.
"Got out early, good behavior," he hunched his shoulders and I shook my head. He tapped my leg, "Well it was nice seeing you, hopefully I'll see you around." He smirked. I watched him with fearful eyes as he left out. Sitting there awhile I finally decided to get up rushing out in a frenzy. "What happened? Where are you going?" Amber asked me with attitude as she took over my table.
"Nothing, um, ya know I quit. But I have to go so..." I sighed and threw my apron and badge down. She looked at me shocked as I rushed out to my car, finding a note on the window shield. Taking it with trembling hands I closed my eyes and ignored it. Starting my car up and backing out quickly. Darting towards my hotel and wasting no time packing my bags up, my phone rang making me scream. It was Karim, I let it ring as I threw my bag over my shoulder and drug my suitcase behind me. The guy from last night was walking towards me with food in his hands, "Hey! Excuse me?" I pushed past him. "Yo, I just wanted to apologize for my madness last night." I glanced back at him and scoffed. Rushing down to my car, "I didn't mean to send you off running!" He yelled after me as I threw my bags in the trunk and drove off. I didn't know exactly where I was going but I knew I needed to get away from here as far as possible. Finally arriving to the airport, I gathered all of my things and checked my phone for the flight leaving the first. It was between Arizona and Las Vegas, I bought my ticket for Vegas and impatiently waited for boarding.
My phone vibrated loudly making me search my purse for it, "Hello?"
"Hey Trinity, I was wondering if you know you wanted to hang tonight...or something like that tonight." I heard him smiling making my heart ache slowly.
"I really wish I could, but something came up with the family and I had to tend to it. I'm so sorry but next time I'm in the city I'll make sure to hang with you, promise."
"Okay, well I hope all is good for ya shawty."
"Thank you," i hung up as my plane began boarding.
