Chapter 3 Tea with Mr. Tumnus
(Vivian's P.O.V.)

I was lying wide awake in my bed. (I had been given my own room down the hall from the Pevensie's.) For an odd reason the only thing on my mind was not the trip to Narnia -surprisingly- but the strange wooden flute that lay on my bedside table. I leaned over and grabbed it, lightly running my fingers over every part of the carved instrument. The door groaned as it opened, the only light on the other side was the faint warm glow of a candle. Lucy had come to take me to Narnia. I swung my legs over the side of the bed sliding my feet into my soft slippers. Lucy giggled when I tripped slightly reaching to grab my robe from the chair by the window. I slipped my flute into my robe pocket, hopefully I could ask Mr. Tumnus what it was.

As we walked down the corridor side by side I had the feeling that someone was watching us. I quickly turned around but nothing was there.
"C'mon Viv, we don't have all night." Lucy whispered excitedly taking my wrist and dragging me behind her. I smiled at the girl, following her. Many squeaky floorboards later we made it to the room with the strange wardrobe. Taking a deep breath I stood behind Lucy as she opened the door, a cold gust of wind escaping and blowing her candle out. Lucy turned her head to smile at me, I gave her a wide grin in return. Her smile quickly turned into a sly smirk as she rushed into the wardrobe. I laughed chasing after her. Soon enough the fur coats turned into the snowy branches of evergreen trees. I gasped and shivered as my feet sunk into the snow.
"We have to hurry." Lucy said, "the white which can't know that we're here."
We set off towards the fauns house, Lucy informing me of who this 'White witch' was.
"She calls herself queen of Narnia, but she really isn't. She's the one that makes always winter and never allows it to be Christmas." Were the main things to come up about her. Eventually we reached a stony hill with a wooden door on the side of it, I'm assuming this is where Tumnus lives. The place seemed familiar, like a distant memory on the edge of my mind but I could never quite reach it. Lu knocked on the door lightly, whispering "Mr. Tumnus? Mr. Tumnus it's me Lucy Pevensie, and I've brought a friend from Spare Oom."
Spare Oom? What -or should I say where- is that? I didn't have time to think about that anymore because the wooden door had opened and Lucy and I had been pulled in very quickly making me gasp in surprise.
"Very sorry to scare you miss, but we don't need the white witch after any of us now do we...." He trailed off looking at me his eyes big as saucers.
"Vivian?" He asked a smile forming at his lips.
"It's you isn't it? The one who gave me this." I whispered no fully trusting my self to speak any louder. I reached my hand into my robe pocket, pulling out my flute.
Mr. Tumnus's smile broadened. "Yes, yes you remember. I got that for you because it was-" memories flashed through my mind. "The gift that would stay with me even after I came back." I said with him. Smiling brightly I hugged him.
"Welcome home Vivian." He said his chin resting on my head.
"It's absolutely wonderful to be back Tumnus." I laughed happily into his shoulder.

Soon after hugging Mr. Tumnus we both became aware of the extra presence in the small home. We had explained out strange behavior to a very confused Lucy over tea. Now, Lucy and I are back outside trudging through the snow back to the wardrobe. When we eventually made it back I saw something I never thought I would have. Edmund. In Narnia.

A/N: JUST KIDDING! I'm not cruel enough to end it here. Carry on.

When he caught sight of me I glared at him, a look in which he returned fully. Lucy, however, had a quite opposite reaction to mine.
"Oh Edmund you got here too, isn't it wonderful!" She cried happily flinging her arms around him. He pushed her off harshly and glared at her, making me want to walk up to him and smack him until he sees stars.
"Edmund... Are you alright?" She asks her brother, very concerned for him.
"No it's freezing out here. How do we get back anyway." He complained. The young girl took Ed's hand leading him back through the wardrobe. I followed behind the two. We were about halfway to our rooms when I remembered "umm.. Lu I think I left my flute with Mr. Tumnus." I told her awkwardly.
"That's alright he'll keep it safe for you, and we can get it tomorrow. Maybe we can even get Susan and Peter to come too, that reminds me." Before I could ask what she was doing she had ran into Peter and Edmund's room turning on the lights and shaking the blonde boy awake.
"Peter, Peter wake up it was there. Peter it was still there wake up!"
"What?" Peter said sleepily.
"Narnia and Mr. Tumnus it's all still there!" Lucy told him excitedly. Probably hearing the noise Susan walked in and sighed.
"Lucy you were just dreaming."
"But I really did go there and this time Vivian and Edmund went to." Lucy said. The two old Pevensies looked between the three of us.
"You saw the faun?" Peter asked. I nodded.
"Well Vivian came with me to see Mr. Tumnus but Edmund.... What were you doing Edmund?" Lucy said turning to look at him. Peter looked at Edmund as well.
"She's not pretending as crazy as it may sound, I was there." I told him with a blank face. Peter looked to Edmund for his answer.
"I was only playing along." Edmund started "I'm sorry Peter I shouldn't have encouraged her, but you know what little children are like these days, they never know when to stop pretending." He finished smugly smirking at me. Lucy's eyes widened a look of betrayal across her features, her eyes watered and her bottom lip trembled. She started crying and ran out of the room. The eldest Pevensies chased after their sister calling her name, Peter pushing Edmund into the bed when exiting the room. I walked up to him.
"You just have to have the last laugh don't you." I spat at him. For a moment he almost looked sorry and in that moment my eyes softened as well but both acts were over just as they had started. I turned my head away from him and stormed out of the room. Turning into my own to have dreams filled with Fauns and lions and winter and spring.
