Chapter 4 Just Your Imagination
(Vivian's P.O.V.)

After I woke up from my strange dreams I was told by Lucy about the encounter with Diggory- I mean the professor. Last time I called him that Ms Macready almost made me sleep on the stables. Needless to say, I learned my lesson. Currently, we were all outside due to the fact that it was actually sunny today. The three oldest Pevensie children were all playing a game of cricket while Lucy and I read, well Lucy read I wrote. Mostly about that strange dream I had last night.
"Peter winds up poised to take yet another wicket."
"If Peter talks about himself in third person again Vivian might have to accidentally push Peter out of a second story window." I said sarcastically. Lucy giggled at my comment. Peter, however, was not as amused.
"I haven't been doing it that long." He defended.
"You've been talking like that ever since you started balling." I shot back, silencing him. He continued to wind up and finally throw the ball, hitting Edmund in the making him yelp in pain.
"Wake up dolly daydream." The older boy joked.
"Can't we play hide and seek again?" Lucy huffed and turned away at Edmund request. I don't blame her.
"I thought you said it was a kids game, and besides we could all use the fresh air." Susan said cooly. Edmund glowered and hit his bat on the ground, signaling that he was ready. This time he actually hit it. I was really quite impressed, until of course, it went through a second story window sending something crashing down on the inside. The five of us rushed up the stairs to find where the ball had landed, it was horrific. The stain glass window had a massive hole in it and on the floor next to the colorful shards of glass was a suit of knights armor with a few metal panels nocked out of it, and a brown cricket ball inside of the chest. Suddenly we heard the sounds of footsteps coming towards us.
"The Macready!" Susan exclaimed in a hushed tone. I would've laughed at the nickname given to the house keeper if it wasn't for the fact that if she caught us we would be fed to the horses. We all ran down the nearest hallway away from the noise, but wherever we turned it seems like she was always there. We could tell she was closing in on us. Peter went down the corridor trying to open the doors but they were all locked, until he got to the last one. Without looking he went inside beckoning us to fallow, little did he know that this was the small room with that magic wardrobe. He would find out soon enough, although. Susan rolled her eyes when she stepped inside the room, knowing this would end badly.
"You've got to be joking."
Edmund opened the door.
"C'mon hurry!"
The others were about to refuse when they heard the sound of Macready getting closer. So, without any further thought we all piled into the wardrobe and closed the door.
"Peter you're on my foot!"
"I'm not even near your foot!"
"Edmund stop pushing!"
"Quit shoving!"
"Who just pinched me?!"
"Oomph." Peter and Susan both fell back into the snow. Shocked, they both stood up and looked around.
"Impossible..." Susan mumbled astonished.
"Oh don't worry." I began,
"I'm sure it's just your imagination." Lucy ended with a smirk.
"I'm not sure sorry would quite cover it." Peter stated.
"No it wouldn't," Lucy agreed as I handed her a snowball, "but this might!" We both threw our snowballs at Peter, hers hitting his face and mine hitting his neck and going down his shirt. Quickly everyone got their snowballs and started throwing them every which way until Peter threw one that hit Edmund in the arm.
"Ow! Stop it." He wined.
"You little liar." Peter accused. Finally realizing that Lucy and I were right.
"You didn't believe them either!"
"Apologize to Lucy and Vivian." Peter demanded pointedly. When Edmund did nothing Peter became furious.
"Say you're sorry." he seethed stepping closer to his brother.
"Alright, I'm sorry!" Ed surrendered. I smirked at him, feeling happy to finally have the upper hand.
"It's alright. Some little children don't when to stop pretending."
He gave me a glare and a mocking laugh.
"Maybe we should go back." Susan suggested. Of course someone had to ruin the fun of us all being here.
"Shouldn't we at least take a look around." Edmund stated. That boy is up to something, I just know it.
"I think, Viv and Lucy should decide." Peter said. Turning around to face us, grinning. I nodded at Lucy, silently telling her I wails go wherever she liked.
"If like you all to meet Mr. Tumnus!"
"Well then Mr. Tumnus it is." Peter replied joyously.
"But we can't go hiking in the snow dresses like this." Susan said rubbing her arms. I'm starting to wonder if I should call her Negative Nelly or Captain Obvious. Peter walked back into the wardrobe. My eyes widened fearing that he was going back. I let out a sigh of relief when he came back out holding five fur coats.
"No but, I'm sure the professor won't mind us borrowing these. If you think about it, logically, we're not even taking them out of the wardrobe." We all took the coats great fully as he handed them to us. Until he got to Edmund, that is.
"But that's a girls coat." He complained.
"I know." Peter replied feigning innocence. Edmund begrudgingly took the coat. Lucy and I led the way to Mr. Tumnus's home happily, telling them of our visit together. I gasped in shock when we reached the faun's house. The door was hanging off its hinges and from what I could see the inside didn't look any better.
"Lu..." Peter trailed off cautiously. Lucy bolted towards the small dwelling. "Lucy!" The older Pevensies yelled all of us following her inside. I covered my mouth horror. The inside looked awful, broken glass and teacup bits strewn across the floor, pots and pans dumbed out on the kitchen, tables and chairs turned over. It looked like some of the houses after the bombs hit. It was nightmarish.
"Who would do something like this?" Lucy asked, heartbroken. Peter walked over to the other side of the small home an picked up a piece of parchment that I hadn't noticed hanging there. He began to read aloud,
"The faun Tumnus is herby charged with high treason, against her imperial majesty, Jadis queen of Narnia for comforting her enemies and fraternizing with humans. Signed Morgirim, captain of the secret police. Long live the queen." Susan took the letter and read over it.
"Alright." She stated, "Now we really should go back."
"What about Mr. Tumnus?" I asked her.
"If he was arrested just for being with a human, I don't think there's much we can do." Susan said, casting apologetic glances at Lu and I.
"You don't understand do you." Lucy told her, "I'm the human, she must've found out that he helped me."
"And I'm the enemy," I added "somehow she found out that I got back into Narnia and saw Mr. Tumnus."
"Maybe we could call the police." Peter proposed.
"These are the police." Susan reasoned. While they continued bickering I noticed Edmund looking away from the rest of us, his body language gave off a look that was almost... Guilty? But why was he acting this way? I noticed he had been acting strangely ever since Lu and I found him in Narnia. Why do I even care? Do I care about Edmund? No. No I don't. I really need to stop talking to myself. When I zoned back into reality Peter was down at his sisters height,
" don't worry Lu, well think of something."
"But why? I mean he's a criminal." I glared at Edmund, how dare he say that about Tumnus. Outside if Mr. Tumnus's ransacked house a 'psst' sound cloud be heard.
"Did that bird just 'psst' us?" Susan wondered looking immensely perplexed. We all filed out towards the bird, Peter leading us. The bird flew away just as we reached the tree it was perched on. A rustling noise could be heard seemingly coming from all directions. Peter kept us all behind him, suddenly a beaver crawled out from behind a snow mound. Wait- a beaver? I let go of Peter, unafraid of the brown dam-building animal.
"It-it's a beaver." Lucy pointed out. Okay, maybe she's captain obvious. Peter looked to us then crouched down holding out his hand and making a few clicking noises and 'here boy's. The beaver came closer getting on its hind legs,
"I ain't gonna smell it if that's what you want."
The Pevensies eyes grew wide an a few gasps were heard, but I -for some odd reason- was unsurprised by this beaver's human voice.
"Erm... Sorry." Peter apologized awkwardly, slowly standing upright again. Lucy let out a small laugh. I smiled kindly at the beaver, which he returned but his face soon fell serious. This couldn't be good.
"Lucy Pevensie? Vivian?" He asked us to which we nodded. The two of us stepped forward until we reached the animal. He held out a tiny white cloth.
"That's the hankee I have to Mr.-"
"Tumnus." The beaver finished handing it to her.
" 'e got it to 'e just before they took 'em. 'E also said you left this at 'is 'ouse." Beaver said handing me my wooden flute. I nodded solemnly.
"Well is he alright?" Lucy worried. Beaver looked around and pointed back the way he came.
"Fartha' in." He said turning around and running off. I followed him without hesitation, however, the Pevensies were less trusting. Beaver held up a hand signaling me to wait a moment.
"Everything alright?" He inquired.
"Yes, we're just talking." Peter spoke for his siblings. He seems to do that a lot. Beaver looked around again and whispered,
"Better left for safer quarters." Before walking off again. Soon enough the Pevensies started walking with me off to wherever the beaver was taking us.
