Chapter 6 'Statues'
(Vivian's P.O.V.)

We raced through the snow to hopefully catch Ed before he got to close to the white witch's castle. Mr. Beaver, the remaining Pevensies, and I got as close as we could to Jadis' castle before stopping, I saw the giant doors open and a small figure step towards them. It was him.
"Edmund!" Lucy shouted.
"Shhhhh. They'll here ya!" Mr. Beaver warned. Peter tried to run after Ed but Beaver caught him by the coat sleeve.
"Let me go! He's our brother!"
"He's the bait, she wants all five of ya! To stop the prophecy from comin' true. To kill ya!" Mr. Beaver cried, "only Aslan can help your brother now."
"Take us to him then." I demanded, expressionless and emotionless as I stared at the doors Edmund had entered through. No one dared to argue with me. We heard the howls of wolves and started running back to the stick house.
"Hey mama, they're after us!" Mr. Beaver cried, bursting through the door. Mrs. Beaver let out a yelp of surprise and started taking food out of the kitchen, packing them in cloth.
"What are you doing?" Peter voiced all of our thoughts.
"You'll be thanking me later, it's a long journey and Mr. Beaver gets pretty cranky when he's hungry." she explained. Mr. Beaver groaned,
"I'm cranky now!" Susan and I started rummaging through the house with Mrs. Beaver, packaging any food we could find.
"Do you think we'll need jam?" Susan asked.
"Only if the which serves toast!" Peter panicked. The sounds of barks and snarls could be heard from outside, I looked up and saw that the wolves were starting to claw at the house. Shredding all the sticks in their way. Quickly, Mr. Beaver led us to a small door, behind it, was a secret underground tunnel.
"Badger and me digged out this. It leads straight to his place."
"You told me it led to your mum's!" I roled my eyes. Now was most definitely not the time for these arguments. Suddenly Lucy tripped, we all stoped and I grabbed her arm to help her up. Then we heard it, the sound of over a dozen paws and snarls echoing off the tunnel walls.
"They're in the tunnel." I whispered in horror
"Quick this way, hurry!" Mr. Beaver shouted. We all started to rush forward. The older siblings yelling a few 'hurry's or 'c'mon's along the way. We turned through the dirt tunnel, trying to avoid any roots. Soon we all stopped, Mr. Beaver had led us to a dead end.
"You should've brought a map!" His wife cried.
"There wasn't any room next to the jam!" Mr. Beaver jumped up and started to dig his way through to the surface. Peter stepped aside, making sure we all got up before him. Then he and Mr. beaver moved a barrel infront of the opening. Hopefully that would delay them for a bit. I looked around, there were stone statutes of animals everywhere. But something in me knew that they weren't always stone. The rest of caught sight of the 'statutes', the Beavers' faces became sullen. They walked over to a stone badger. They must've known him.
"I'm so sorry dear." Said Mrs. Beaver, putting a comforting paw on her husband's shoulder.
"'E was my best mate."
"What happened here?" Peter wondered aloud.
"This is what becomes of those who cross the Witch." Answered a fox. We were startled when he appeared, to say the least.
"You take one more step, traitor, and I'll chew ya to splinters!" Beaver threatened as his wife tried to hold him back.
"Relax," the fox said slyly, "I'm one of the good guys."
"Oh yeah? Well ya look an awful lot like one of the bad ones." Mr. Beaver accused.
"An unfortunate family resemblance, but we can argue breeding later. Right now we need to move." The sounds of barking and snarling came back and were getting louder every second.
"What do you have in mind?" Peter asked hurriedly. The fox smirked and gave us his plan which we quickly put into action.

I could see the barrel burst off and the wolves come running through the opening from my spot up in the trees. The fox was standing out in the open, looking at all the wolves as they circled him.
"Greetings, gents. Lost something have we?" The fox joked.
"Don't patronize me. I know where your alegence lies." Snarled the wolf who seemed to be the leader. That must be Morgrim.
"We're looking for some humans." Morgrim continued.
"Humans? In Narnia? That's a valuable bit of information, don't you think." Fox teased. Suddenly a wolf jumped forward and put the fox's body in his jaws, lifting him up. I had to hide my face in Peter's shoulder so I didn't cry out for them to leave the fox.
"Your reward is your life. It's not much, but still." Said margrim coldly, "where are the fugatives?" The fox hung his head, defeated. Is he going to turn us in?
"North, they ran north." He gasped out. I let out a breath that I hadn't realized I was holding.
"Smell them out." The wolf ordered. The pack all followed his orders and left, the one holding Fox threw him into a snowbank before running off with the rest. I started climbing down as soon as they started to leave then hid until they were completely out of sight. I rushed to Fox and helped him up. Eventually the other got down and started a fire as I stitched his wounds.
"They were helping Tumnus." Fox began, referring to the 'statues'
"The witch got here before I did- OW!" He yelped. Let out a quick apology but then continued.
"Are you alright?" Lucy asked.
"I wish I could say their bark was worse than their bite- OW!" He moved away from me.
"I'm sorry but you've got to stop squirming." I told him.
"You're worse than beaver on bath day." Mrs. Beaver added.
"Worst day of the year."
"Thank you for your kindness, your majesty, but I'm afraid that's all the cure I have time for." Fox told me, standing up and bowing.
"You're leaving?" Lucy questioned him. The fox bowed once again,
"It has been a pleasure, my queen, and an honor. But time is short and Aslan himself has asked me to gather more troops." The beavers gasped,
"You've seen Aslan? "
"Oh, what's he like?"
Fox chuckled,
"Like, everything we've ever heard. You'll be glad to have him by your side at the battle with the white witch."
"But we're not planning on fighting any witch." Susan interjected.
"But surely King Peter and Queen Vivian, the prophecy."
"We can't go to war without ya." Mr. Beaver added.
"Peter can't you see Narnia needs us." I pleade.
"We just want our brother back."

A/N: Finally I uploaded another chapter! I made it extra long to make up for my absence; 1,150 words excluding this author's note. I really hope you enjoyed this chapter, because it's finally starting to get into the good stuff. I will most likely get the next chapter out before the night ends so check for that.
As usual have a lovely morning, afternoon, and/or night?
