I sit alone
And each day they pass me.
They stare and say things,
"What is he trying to say?"
It's the way I dress,
The music I listen to.
I'm not saying anything
And yet I'm saying everything.
Then one day,
She sits next to me.
She stays quiet,
Slowly eating her lunch,
Until I ask a simple question,
"Why?"
She stops eating and looks into my eyes,
"Because I'm like you."
And with that
More people joined.
I wasn't alone anymore
And I knew
My protesting changed the world.
Divergence is needed,
And it's okay to be different.
