My haunting past

Chapter 8-birthday

I couldn't read the journal tonight, I had to much work and I didn't want to. I don't know what to expect from it, I don't know even know what to expect from Stefan either

"Mom" Madeline said running into my room

"Yes" I replied looking up

"Is dad coming to my birthday tomorrow?" She asked

"Yes he is" I said with a fake smile

"Ok, goodnight" she replied

"Goodnight" I said. She left my room and I looked back down at the journal. Maybe I need to get drunk and open this.

I need to talk to someone but I couldn't. Everyone is asleep and with their family, I can't disturb them about this, they all have their own life.

I put the journal in a drawer on my nightstand and tried sleeping but I couldn't. I tossed and turned all night, not getting a single minute of sleep.

I saw the sun rise, knowing I can start working, getting stuff done early so I can spend more time with the kids at Madeline's birthday.

I went downstairs, grabbing some coffee and going into the office.

2 hours later, my event coordinator came into my office

"Miss whitmore" Jenny said

"Yes" I replied

"stuff are starting to arrive, I have directed them to be put in the spot we agreed on" she said

"Perfect, thank you" I replied

"You're welcome" she said walking out. I looked at the time to see it's 10am, Madeline had to be awake. I walked out of the office and up to Madeline's room. I slowly opened the door more to see she's awake

"Happy birthday madi, the nickname I gave her

"Thank you" she said. I gave her a hug and a forehead kiss. She's growing up, she's 12 and it's scary. I lost so much time with my kids and I regret every single minute

"Let's eat some breakfast then we can open some presents" I said

"Ok" she replied

We both went downstairs and ate breakfast with the whole family. My phone kept buzzing for work but I told myself today I wasn't gonna do any work and focus on my kids.

We started opening presents and Madeline was confused of what the gifts were

"A sd card?" She questioned

"Open the next one" I said. She opened the next one, revealing a camera. "You got me a camera" she shouted excitedly. She was practically jumping off the walls.

"Happy birthday Madeline" I said

"Thank you so much mom" she replied hugging me

"You're welcome, now I expect you to take amazing pictures of me" I said jokingly with her.

"I will, don't worry" she replied. She opened the camera box and started playing around with the box. The backyard was done being set up and soon the guest are gonna arrive

Everyone started getting ready, including the dogs. They all got haircuts to look groomed today.

"Mommy" Anthony said

"Yes" I replied

"Help" he exclaimed. I turned around from my dresser to see his head in the arm sleeve. I helped him out of the shirt and put it on properly

"Thank you" he said

"You're welcome ant man" I said. He scurried off and I finished getting ready. Once I was done I checked on the kids.
