God you missed him, but it was for the best. Plus you couldn't any more 'advice' on how to live your life from your family. Hence why you was marrying a wealthy man you didn't even love to keep them happy. You could have sworn you saw a familiar trench coat in the corner of your eye, but when you looked there was nothing there.Your mind was playing tricks on you. You knew this was wrong but the right thing to do. As your husband to be lifted your veil he frowned, your mascara had been running and your eyes red from crying. He knew you didn't want this and that you was in love with another. You gave him a weak smile, ignoring everyone around you and everything the pastor was saying.
You couldn't even look the man in the eyes. "Speak now or forever hold your peace" was the only thing the pastor said that you registered. A lone hot tear rolling down your cheek, the church filled with science. "I do!" A Liverpudlian voice shouted from the back of the church. Instantly you snapped your head on his direction, it was him John.
Oh your dad was angry, being held in his seat by your brother. John walked towards you confidently "you see mate, she's already married" John explained. Guests and both your families gasped and gossiped to each other. You was confused you never married John or anyone else for that matter. "Remember that trip to Africa?" He questioned, you nodded keeping your eyes locked on his. "And that ceremony the chief performed?" He prompted.
His words sunk in to your brain piecing it all together like a puzzle. "It was a wedding?" You asked back shocked. You had no idea and in all fairness neither did John at the time. He was looking at ways he could stop this wedding from happening, with help from Chas he found his reason. "Maybe not in the eyes of god but we are legally married in the eyes of Adroa" he smiled.
Your dad broke free from your brothers grip, "you stay away from my daughter" he growled, inches away from John. "Who just happens to be me wife" John commented, you could feel your dads anger rising. Only you could cause a drama in a church. "Daddy please" you begged, gaining a look from your father that meant you was to not speak again. But you knew John wouldn't back down specially when it came to you.
Tensions were high, you could cut it with a knife. "Daddy I know you don't like John, but I love him" you began explaining, placing a hand on his shoulder "I don't want this, I don't want to be with someone I don't love. I want to be with the man I love". He looked down at you, seeing the tears pricking the corners of your eyes. Seeing you so emotional and vulnerable broke him. He never wanted to hurt his daughter, he just wanted what was best for you. What he thought was best for you.
Your father sighed knowing he wasn't going to win with out you hating his guts anymore than you already did right now. "At least get married in the eye of god, for all I know he made that one up" your father compromised, you couldn't help but smile. Pulling him in to a big hug "thank you daddy!" You whispered in his ear.
The day couldn't get any better, you had permission to be with the man you wanted to be with. But the happiness wasn't going to last long was it?
