The reality behind Tornado Squadron

While the Republic acknowledges how useful it is to have a natural disaster-related clone squad, they only gave them the chance to become a squadron because they wanted them to feel like they were important (when they really weren't). They acted out of pity.

Compared to other squads, Tornado Squadron was regarded as "unnecessary". While their combat prowess and overall cohesiveness was something to be proud of, they just weren't given too many chances to really show themselves. The fact that they are considered expendable and could possibly be disbanded if they don't perform well weighs heavily on Twister, the commander of the squadron. It is why he pushes himself and his squad to be the best they can be, often running himself ragged in the process.

They worked hard for this. Losing it and going back to being just a number in an army of thousands was not an option.
